MoveOn.org pulls Petraeus bash ad from web site

Dan has the scoop on this. The bottom line here is when John F'ing Kerry says you've gone too far, you done gone too far Hoss. I checked the link Dan had and its deader than chairman Mao.

I seriously hope the MoveOn crowd remains tone deaf enough to continue this line of attack. It will be entertaining to see the dem candidates distancing themselves from MoveOn.org.

Update: the ad continues to be available via other avenues at the MoveOn web site.

MoveOn really screwed the pooch with this one though. Some of their bashing goes back prior to Petraeus' confirmation as commander -- which means senate democrats were aware of that before the confirmation vote. So in effect, MoveOn is bashing senate democrats "judgment" at the same time they bash Petraeus.

Kerry getting prickly is interesting too since he didn't actually vote to confirm Petraeus -- he was a no-show on that vote. It would have been easy for him to say "I didn't vote for the man" and have it be the truth. Then again, JK is one of the biggest no-show senators we got.

1 It's still linked prominently on their front page, and the link takes you to this page which still links to a full-size print of their ad.

So I guess they're not too ashamed yet.

Won't happen.

3 I still see the ad on 'notripis's link.

"It will be entertaining to see the dem candidates distancing themselves from MoveOn.org."

You think the drive-by media would connect, pressure or question Dem candidates on this?  I don't.

8 Yahoo News headline:

• GOP support for Iraq war on shaky ground

Yeah, I guess when they can't run a casualty headline from Iraq, they can come up with some opinion about the GOP support for Petraeus.

9 You mean John "I don't fall down" Kerry wasn't against Petraeus before he wasn't for Petraeus?

10 Moron.org is in a bit of a bind.  They are calling Petraeus a liar and a hack, but he is advocating a withdrawl.  If he is all those things, what is moron.org since they believe the same things?

MoveOn will likely get more strident and unhinged and shameless as the election draws near, just like in 2004. Puppet heads. Want to see the giant puppet heads again. Love those things.

Dems won't have to do anything to distance themselves. The media will adjust news coverage so that most people don't see what kooks and freaks are supporting the Dems.

Important!!!

MoveOn's Petraeus webpage lists three independent reports that apparently say that the surge strategy has failed. The relevant portion is here:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Every independent report on the ground situation in Iraq shows that the surge strategy has failed.
GAO report, 9/4/07
NIE report, 8/23/07
Jones report, CSIS, 9/6/07

<<<<<<<<<<<<

I searched all three documents for the words "surge", "strategy" and "fail". All three searches returned nothing in any of the documents. Some of the documents do talk about failures of Iraqi Govt, but none explicitly talk about the failure of the Surge Strategy. I wonder whether MoveOn people use a browser setting that allows them to see things not written in a document.

Ofcourse they use the weasel word 'show' rather than the word 'state'. Which means that "Every independent report on the ground situation in Iraq shows that the surge strategy has failed." is MoveOn's conclusion rather than the conclusion of these 3 reports. Why should we give a wet fart about what MoveOn thinks?

16 This shows one of the problems with the far left's tendency to isolate themselves. If you disagree with then on any serious issue, you're out, both in terms of politics and in terms of personal interaction. How many times have we read articles or blog posts about a lefty disavowing a parent, sibling or close friend becuase they support the war or some other conservative cause. The only people they respect and interact with hold their exact views and political style, so they lose all sense of boundaries. They don't know where the lines are or what lines should not be crossed.

Gah! Don't you dare harm a single one! Just take lots of pictures of them and especially of the freaks, and email the pics to everyone you know and post them online, too.

18 Is Moveon a proxy for the DNC or is the DNC a proxy for Moveon?? Is Soros the king maker or the king?

As for this ad, it is certainly grounds, IMO, to label Moveon a terrorist enabling organization. The NYT takes this ad, and  yet, two national TV networks refuse the ads supporting our efforts in this war. What  fucking Twilight Zone episode have I landed in??

This website has a list of donations made by MoveOn to various Democrats.

Ciro Rodriguez (D-TX) got a piddly sum of $163,643.

Joe Lieberman got an astronomically high sum of $16.

You know, at least whack jobs like Kucinich (or Ron Paul) are upfront with their crazy-ass pacifism/appeasement. Kerry, on the other hand, tries to skulk around beneath the radar and only comes up when he thinks he  knows which way the wind is blowing.  What a profile in courage.

24 Are those flame retardant?

Nothing is flame retardant if you pour enough acetone, ether, MEK, nitromethane xylene, gas and kerosene on it first.  Contrary to popular opinion, even steel will melt when you throw enough flaming VOC's at it.

Sorry Lauraw, gotta disagree.  Torching half of the giant puppet heads would guarantee days and days of press coverage, with lots of prime time interviews of the puppet makers, etc.  It might be the only way to get this crowd the exposure it so deserves.

I watched Petreus' exchange with Rep. Wexler over at Hugh Hewitt's site. I would make the following observations:

1) General Petreus is a major stud for listening to that little bitch of a demogogue and still maintaining the mission and confining his remarks to the topic at hand. The soldier in him had to have been screaming to use some of his martial arts skills upside that little bitch's head.

2) If Representative Waxman is re-elected by the people in his district next go-around, then I'm in favor of them seceding. By force if neccessary.
