"Hilarious," Utterly Unpredicable Colbert Bit With Kos!

I say "hilarious" because the media person publicizing this claims it to be so. I don't blame her. She's being paid to say so. And you can't make a silk purse out of a pig's arse.

Standard Colbert apologism, entirely unfunny and entirely predictable, as lame and as mind-numbingly didactic as anything you'll find on the much-derided Half-Hour Comedy Hour. And yet the latter is ripped as hack, while Colbert -- doing the same schtick with the same level of comedy value -- is praised as "genius."

Whatever.

Since everyone's going to link it anyway, I'll do so. Colbert makes teh big funny about how Kos cannot possibly control what is written on his site, including, I guess, what he himself writes, such as writing of the four murdered civilian contractors: "Screw them. They're mercenaries. I feel nothing."

What a shock that Colbert forgets to mention that.

But as the inconveniently anti-American and pro-terrorist Kos is now big shakes in the Democratic Party, the media must do its part to rehabilitate his image so that the public doesn't get the wrong ideas. Ideas like major Democratic candidates for President, as well as the Majority Leader in the Senate, are now toadying up to an obscene toad who writes approvingly of the murder of Americans at the hands of terrorists.

Watch and learn. Colbert is as funny as his he is honest.

1 Why do leftists tend to have such ginormous heads?  Some sort of inverse ratio to intelligence?

2 hahahahhahahahhahaha. oh yes bring him on a COMEDY show so he can prove he is not mean. wow good one. next bring on Hillary so she can say she didnt know about the FBI files and her husband lying under oath about cheating.

3 Colbert is not funny.  Period.  I find him about as creative or funny as Small Wonder or Full House.

Most of the commenters on here are waaaay more funny than he is.

4 That 'comedy' segment had all the humor, charm and spontaneity of an infomerical.

I am not a big fan of O'Reilly but I would love to see Kos man up and go at it with him in person instead of some lame satirical version. I guess all that 'storming the gates' stuff is fine if it's a soft target...like other Democrats.

5 Oh...the cat hate group thing at the start was funny. Well not so much funny as true. Cats are evl.

6 I don't know if anyone already knows or cares, but Half-Hour News Hour was canceled.  I've never watched it (thanks, Ace!), but I always kinda enjoy it when either co-host shows up on RedEye.

7 Next time Colbert simply needs to ask "how tall is 5 feet?"

Kos' had HAS to go head high, then.

Colbert's a smart guy, but the schtick is already old, he started strong, cuz frankly "truthiness" is one of the funniest damn things ever, as was his callout to the NYT when they called it "trustiness."  "Trustiness?  Thats not even a Word!"

But he's fallen into the cycle like stewart, it at least took a few years for stewart to go all bajingoy (I don't know what that means) with his blatant manipulation of forum for his leftitude.

Colbert is like one of those 6 minute SNL skits that they tried to make into a movie; funny for a while until you get tired of hearing the same joke told 100 differnt ways.  I would like to see Kos go head to head with O'Reilly.  O'Reilly nearly had a stroke arguing with Geraldo, can you imagine what a face to face with Kos would produce.  One of them would spontaniously combust.

10 Listen to the crowd.  Even the Colbert fans who love him enough to show up didn't think this was very funny.  Lots of clappy moments, no laughy moments.

11 The Kos guy may be the Left's "darling du jour"

Its Cindy Sheehan replacement

He (Markos) seems stiff and wooden, and the "democracy in action" justification or shtick kind of lame.

I thought this was funny and S. Colbert made a great point about the crap that gets posted onto Kos.

12 "Colbert makes teh big funny about how Kos cannot possibly control what is written on his site..."

I guess I missed that.

I thought by blogging absurd (and usually dumb) hateful stuff, Colbert was doing what "people" do on Kos, last time I looked, over a year ago.

I will admit that I personally can still enjoy the beginning of the show sometimes when he does the Word of the Day or ThreatDown or whatever.  I did stop watching regularly a year or so ago because the rest of the show turned into a snoozefest.

The worst part about Stewart but also to a lesser degree Colbert is the snivelling obsequious deference they show to Dem politians/activists and Leftards of all stripes.  I can't help but remember getting the, as Ace would have it, "shivering douche-chills" when Stewart had the guy who wrote that piece of crap book What's Wrong with Kansas on the show.  I dont know if anything ever written begged for it's author to be subjected to intense public ridicule more than that book.  I mean some douche PHD lefty near-retard passing judgement on an entire state because they don't vote the way he thinks they should?  Any comedian should have eaten that moron alive, instead Stewart, if my memory serves, actually started to fellate the guy before I turned the channel in disgust.  I assume that focus groups must show that the targeted audience for the show must want the show to be more a vehicle for reinforcement of their political beliefs than actually funny.

17 I pray that Kos becomes the face of the dem party.  That guy is as likeable as a root canal done with a butter knife.

Kos also has a big head, a small neck and a lisp.

I'm not saying he's an effeminate bottom who loves to take it in the ass, I'm just saying he's an effeminate bottom who LIKES to take it in the ass.

20 I'm trying to think of how much money it would take to get me to watch that clip... I'm not saying I don't have my price, I'm just saying it's fairly high....

Posted by: Terry at August 16, 2007 02:10 PM (+7Usq)

21 I thought it was rather funny.  It was double funny because Markos seemed a little miffed at the accusations even though he obviously knew it was a comedy set up.  And the horse thing was hysterical, I about fell out of my chair.

On the flip side I am easily entertained (per my blog name).  So maybe it is not funny.  I like seeing Colbert do his whole shtick to the hilt but I have to change the channel when he, or Stewart, get too patronizingly lefty.  Still I find a lot of their non-political stuff funny.

22 Daily Cos (like Howard Cossell?) All this time I thought it was pronounced Daily Kos (like Kosmonaut.)

24 I just read this diaper stain's self serving defense of what he said regarding the contractors vs. his "brothers in arms". All of the Blackwater guys butchered at Fallujah were US military vets, including Scott Helvensten, a former SEAL who a few friends of mine served with. I'll wager all those men were ten times the soldier Kos ever was, and he's not only a hateful little shitbird, he's a gutless weasel as well.

Posted by: UGAdawg at August 16, 2007 03:04 PM (BnZUW)

25 Maybe it should be refered to as "The Ko'stapo."

Haven't you wingnuts heard--Kos and the rest of us are the new centrists.

27 Yet all the whackjobs on the left seem fit to pillory Michelle Malkin because occasionally a visitor to her site or Hot Air manages to slip in a comment that could be construed as "hateful". (Are ya listening, Glenn Greenwald?)

28 Stephen Colbert is in the unenviable, embarrassing position of being considered hilarious no matter what he says or does. His interviews were pretty hilarious on The Daily Show, before 2004 when it went off the deep end politically. His schtick though... it's like watching an unending show of Martin Glick, it's one joke played over and over and over to the endless giggles of mentally immature lefties. OK we get it, he's mocking what he thinks O'Reilly is like. Again.

Posted by: Christopher Taylor at August 16, 2007 05:28 PM (wmgz8)

29 I just started watching him recently, so maybe he will wear thin, but I think he's hilarious.
