JetBlue, Proud Sponsor of the YearlyKos

Roger Simon says he doesn't mind it, on the theory that it's good "for all of us." If a corporation wants to sponsor one blogger group, of course we can just wait our turn for the crazy corporate blog-money.

Does Simon believe a word of this? It is beyond dispute that, owing to the fact our major insitutions are largely controlled by liberals, vicious sites like the DailyKos ("Screw 'em," he said of murdered civilian contractors, "I feel nothing") are given a pass because there are no enemies to the left. Meanwhile, the slightest bit of "controversial rhetoric" from a rightwing site makes it radioactive for most corporations.

Let's just say that if the right of the blogosphere got together to organize a big multiblog convention (we'd have to multiblog, to even approach Kos' numbers), I don't think JetBlue would be quite as willing to toss us some corporate sponsorship to subsidize the soiree.

1 I had already made it a point to avoid JetBlue because it is an all Airbus airline. I avoid flying in AirBursts any time that I can. Now this! Let's just say that the chances of me EVER flying JetBlue are as close to nil as I can possibly make it.

Ace, why don't you jump on top of that? The business plan is simple:

- Round up a dozen of the top tier Righty-Bloggers

- Form an LLC and create a new Righty-Blog variety show of sorts

- Each member of the ownership has one day a week where they host the stories on the site

- Create guest-blog accounts (diaries) for those interested in being a contributor

- Everyone still maintains their current site but now also owns a portion of the new site

Ultimately the reason why Kos does so well is because everyone and their brother can have 5 minutes of fame as a contributor. Imagine if your site had 500k plus hits a day, everyone would be clamouring to have their piece listed.

Managed properly for 12-18 months, there's no reason why this new site couldn't have 500k hits. Also, the readership of the other LLC owners would increase from the clearing-house related traffic.

8 This is an airline that has lost its way. It was a big success and like many successes they can't keep their eye on the ball.

First it was the horrible screw up in February which left people stranded, some for more than a week.

Then they've had several screw-ups in the last few months leaving passengers stranded for 12 or so on short flights. In one case, it took almost 30 hours to get a flight from Florida to New Jersey!

And now they endorse the ranting uber-leftists partisans of the Daily Kos.

These guys are in an uncontrolled dive, which is not a good thing for an airline.

This is an effort by the company's new management to placate George Soros, who holds a 10% share of the company's stock. Soros is angry because the former Chairman, David Neeleman, was removed by the board in May 2007. He sold 1 million shares to send a message to the comapny's new management.

Soros has no problem crashing international currencies as retaliation for his personal and business disputes with international leaders. The bosses at JetBlue know that he'll crash and burn their little airline quicker than he crashed and burned the Maylasian currency in 1997 if he's not happy with them.

I'm appreciative of this story because i didn't know that Soros held such a large stake in JetBlue. Had I been aware, I never would have flown them in the past. And I'm sure as heck not going to fly them in the future.

This was a public relations clusterf*ck the likes of which only a Soros influenced company could have committed. I'm sure that I'm not the only customer to walk away from them going forward.
