I watched 5 minutes of the first episode. It was pretty bad. I happened to catch the scene with the ex-military hot-head with his douchebag girlfriend. The douchebag gf threw his cellphone out the window. Then the next scene was with the girl and her dad. The dad was a buffoon and the girl was sneaky skank.

Why in the world would I give a shit about a bunch of idiots driving across the country? Answer: I wouldn't

 

Say what you want about Prison Break, but I have not been disappointed yet in a single episode. They are running the risk, however, of becoming too convoluted in a soap-opera series type of way.

Speaking of convoluted, Heroes isn't bad. They're starting to lose me with the silly nonsense, especially the Japanese dork and the over-the-top Sylar maniac.

15 I finally bought the Firefly DVDs. I have to say that given the dates the episodes were shown it's obvious why the series was canceled. But it's equally obvious why Firefly would be very difficult to put back together with several main characters dead.

But if the first episode of Season 2 of Firefly had the "Two by two, Hands of Blue" guys in it, that might be a good start.

Too bad the people running Fox have ADD when it comes to giving shows a chance to succeed. Not to sound like an Aint it Cool News fanboy or anything, but some of those people have a point when they say Cheers and Seinfeld would not have made it in the current TV climate.

It'd be neat to have a few new episodes of the show; obviously they can't commission a whole new season, but some "lost episodes"--the history of the crew (like Wash and Zoe's wedding; I'd definitely love to see that) and other escapades we didn't hear about--would be amazing.

I keep thinking that if they hadn't canceled "Firefly," the story might've ended differently and Wash and Shepherd Book mightn't've died.

Shepherd was always a dead man walking. Whenever a story introduces a mentor, said mentor may as well have concentric circles tattooed over his chest. (I am VERY MUCH including George Martin's "Game of Thrones" in this, but that is Another Rant.)

As for the Hands of Blue - they're dead as doornails. Pick up the Serenity comics sometime...

I unfortunately saw the last 5 minutes of one episode by switching the TV on too early and boy oh boy did that 5 minutes suck.

My policy is to "never" watch new shows. I wait at least a half-a-season, to see if 1) it's still around and 2) see who likes it. If it's REALLY popular - than I probably won't like it.

And, as I rule I never watch sitcoms. That's just how I roll.

That's my policy too.  I generally wait till there is a second season with a certain type of buzz around the show.  The only show that I have watched without this was My Name is Earl but I have a Jason Lee crush. 

I hate that Firefly wasn't given a shot at the ratings but Fox is notorious for putting good shows in bad timeslots and then letting them flounder before canceling them.  I will admit that I have signed a petition to bring this show back even if only on DVD.

�The president and his supporters claim that we�re now finally on the cusp of progress and that we must continue to stay the course,� Mr. Byrd said. �I�ve heard that before. Call me a skeptic, but we have heard this tune before. Yes, haven�t we?�
