| Hey, whatever happened to Lionel Richie?Lionel Richie electrifies Libyans Electrifies, huh? Was he and Mo rubbing a lot of balloons on their heads?"Libya I love you, I'll be back," the Oscar and Grammy award-winning singer songwriter said to roars of approval from more than 1,000 senior Libyan officials and diplomats gathered in front of the shell-cratered building.Hey don't forget my T-shirts and CDs in the lobby! The event ended with a group of children dressed as angels standing on a balcony of the house and waving candles as they sang along to a recording of the U.S. humanitarian pop anthem "We are the world."I think we should have had the US Air Force provide the encore! Now that's just cruel. Posted by: Slublog at April 15, 2006 06:12 PM (aGpO3) 2
I love Sam Kinison's routine about the Libya bombings.
"But it's not all good news, folks. We accidentally dropped a bomb on the French embassy." "Maybe our aim would have been a little better if we had a little more sleep! Thanks for the 5000 extra air miles, assholes!" Posted by: Moonbat_One at April 15, 2006 06:12 PM (qlF1y) 3
it's a shame Pat O'Brien couldnt be there for a rendition of "hello"

When, if ever, do this morons realize that they are not more enlightened or altrusitic than the rest of us? They are just moneygrubbing whores of the worst kind.
I would like to know what Ritchie has to say to any family member of victims of the PanAm 103 bombing. Posted by: jmchez at April 15, 2006 06:27 PM (lgXiz) 5
If I were Lionel Ritchie I'd be hiding somewhere out of sheer embarassment from the actions of my ho-biscuit daughter

So, I assume he's not "Dancing On The Ceiling" any more? Shame. That was such a breakthrough video, too.

ROP=Religion of Peace.
It should also have that little superscript TM gizmo behind it, but I don't know how to do that. Posted by: Old Coot at April 15, 2006 08:03 PM (K13iK) 11
I gotta hand it to Libya. It seems to me like they are sincere, and I say bully for them.
Here, here. (Turns) You there, more brandy for the old man. Posted by: Dogstar at April 15, 2006 08:09 PM (Z07fE) 12
I read an article recently by one visitor to Libya who claimed that the oppression and paranoia there are almost as bad as what he saw in North Korea. This would make Libya one of the top two or three totalitarian hellholes on earth. And of course, no totalitarian hellhole would be complete without a certifiable whackjob at the top running the place, and Big Mo certainly fills that bill to a T.

Jeff at Beautiful Atrocities has been all over Libya and the Gaddafi family for ages. Tons of posts, and worth going through his archives for if you haven't seen them.
In short, Gaddafi is a wolf in clown's clothing. He may seem amusing on the surface, but he's a brutal dictator, make no mistake. Posted by: Hermit Dave at April 16, 2006 01:49 AM (lTHYp) 18
I even wrote him a song:
He's a brick----house Mighty mighty, just lettin' it all hang out Yeah he's a brick----house ... Wait, let me try that again: You're once, twice, Three times Qaddafi ... Okay, this is it: Say you, say me Say it for always That's the way it should be Say you, say me Say it together Qaddafi! Posted by: Lionel Ritchie at April 16, 2006 02:53 AM (rD+kE) 19
Those were U.S. Navy A7Es that took out the SAM sites prior to the USAF F-111 coming into do the bombing. Some of them came back from the first sortie with AAA damage. We slapped 100mph tape on the leading edges, refueled, rearmed them and launched them for a second sortie.
Thanks for the recognition?! Posted by: MCPO Airdale at April 16, 2006 07:06 AM (WOQ34) 20
Airdale I wouldn't be too awfully offended, much of the mission was classified for over a decade, and it happened about 20 years ago, people are not going to be real precise on many details. So thank you for tipping us off on more information, and thank you and the mighty Navy for their part in the strike!

OregonMuse, you ignorant slut. Are you not aware that Libya is the purest democracy in the world? An authority on Libya, Col. Khadaffy, said so himself.

I seem to remember the Lybians displaying the helmet of a Navy pilot that was shot down after the raid. I also recall that Jesse Jackson negotiated the release of the pilot (or his body) afterwards.

Hey Sambo, check out the racism in this thread, too.
They are shitting on Lionel Richie because he's black. And they hate Libyans, too. Must be because of their brown skin. Posted by: stupid typical fucking moonbat at April 16, 2006 05:49 PM (Iut1Q) 24
I think the article Oregonmuse refers to might be this one:
http://www.laweekly.com/general/features/in-the-land-of-the-brother-leader/12/ This is by Michael Totten, telling about his recent visit to Libya, and it's real interesting. He basically describes Libya as a total police state full of pretty nice people who just need for that old bastard (and maybe his sons too) to die so they can rejoin the world. It's kind of touching . Posted by: stace at April 16, 2006 06:58 PM (A56/D) 25
OK I read the yahoo article and that has to be the most asskissing star worshipping piece of shit I've read since the last time George Clooney was on Entertainment Tonight. People get paid to write like that?
