GIGANTIC HORROR POLL: Obama Favorability In the Dumps, Bain Attack Ineffective

When you see these numbers, keep in mind that no matter Obama's policies, he's always enjoyed strong favorability from the American public. "He's a likeable guy," they said.

Until now.

Quite suddenly people aren't afraid to say they just don't like him. (The columns in order are Total, Rep, Dem, Ind.)

The overall numbers are bad for Obama, a twelve point deficit. But just look at the independents. That's catastrophically bad for Obama, a twenty-four point deficit. And he used to be so likeable.

What happened? Five things.

(1) Obama became the bad guy.
Obama has been running an astonishingly nasty campaign for the past month. The days of happy hope and change are gone. Now he's wandering around the country pushing his class warfare on half-empty auditoriums. His media mouthpieces are grunting "felon, felon" whenever they can find a microphone. His DNC is still attacking the other guy's wife.

Hope and change? Nope.

(2) Obama pandered.
Obama has a serious problem. His base, the far Left, support a whole bunch of policies that the rest of the country do not. He needs his base to help fund his reelection, but they weren't having any of that without some demonstration of his radical bonafides. So he pandered to them. He "evolved" on gay marriage just as his bundlers reported that his previous marriage stance was keeping him from bringing in the big donors. He instituted the DREAM Act by executive slight-of-hand. So he shored up his far Left. Unfortunately for him (and fortunately for us), these issues appear to motivate Republicans more than anyone else---that is, they motivate opposition to Obama more than support. (Again: Total, Rep, Dem, Ind.)

(3) Nobody cares about Bain.
Obama has devoted an entire month to attacks based on the theory that voters will be turned off by Romney's association with Bain Capital. This theory is all that Obama's got left and the Democrats have been getting screechier and screechier as it goes. They started with "vulture capitalism" and ended up with "felon!" And what did it get them?

Nobody cares. At least, not enough that it matters. And not even Democrats.

(4) It's about the economy, stupid.
I know, I know. Overused. But true. (Again, columns in order are Total, Rep, Dem, Ind.)

(5) Romney is going to save the economy.
And here, Romney's noteworthy ability not to be distracted by Obama's latest flailing pays off. Romney's been focused on the economy from way back in the primaries. Voters noticed:

And there you have it.

I highlydoubt it. By noon Carney will be out telling us why these are great numbers for King Barack. Witness their spinning over how Obama's "you didn't build that comment" means the exact opposite of what he actually said.

Dems are unmoved by normal human emotions such as shame. In fact, they're also unmoved by reality.

Which is why liberalism is a mental illness.

36 How
is productivity created? By having a strong middle class who spend
their money on goods and services. How was a strong middle class created
to begin with? The G.I.bill: government investment in creating an
educated work force to fill positions in
private AND governemnt enterprises, as well strong unions which
improved wages and working conditions for everyone, not simply union
workers, as well as goverment oversight on these factors. Government has
always been an important part of our successful economy at least until
the past few years, as coincidentally our economy has been slagging.
Government and yes, unions have been the stablizing force in maintaiing
decent wages and a strong economy, balanced with lightly regulated
business (and banks). Kill the government and unions and you slow down
outsourcing, but that is because the wages will be way lower here, and
consequentially, a low standard of living for all, less goods sold, etc.
Kill the goverment and you wreck the safety net, decent wages, invite
financial abuses, environmental problems, discourage education, and
public investment in infrastructure (also an important factor in
maintain goods and services as well as middle class standards.

It's a mere 5 months later and they're in shock because the usual tricks aren't working, Mitt's in a dead heat with Black Jesus.

As I pointed out before, the only way they got Obama to just 1 pt behind Mitt was slanting their poll with an hilarious +6.5 pt advantage to Dems in the weighting of the poll sample.

I predict the return of absurd double-digit weighting advantages to Dems as the MSM desperately tries to keep Obama afloat. We'll likely see some out-of-this-world polling where they give Dem's a +14 pt advantage or more. [Don't laugh - I've seen it.}

It's FUN watching Progressives try to keep their bubble intact by LYING to themselves in their own polls.

85 They can't even be bother to ask themselves, "Gee, I wonder why that is?"

Here's the problem with Communism (I just thought of this, though I'm not sure why): it cannot work- regardless of human nature. Natural nature makes it impossible.

There are two times (that I know of, maybe more) when a relatively small, self-policing group of people tried what we might call "Utopian Communism" and where the vast majority of people really sublimated their own desires for the good of the community.

The Christians in Jerusalem right after the Crucifixion, and the 'La Reunion' settlement in Texas (where Dallas now stands. Indeed, Reunion Tower and Reunion Arena were named for the settlement). In both cases, historical records, including records from uninterested or even hostile 3rd parties acknowledge that they were acting the way Communism requires- the vast majority were working for the communal good, and the few who didn't were punished or exiled from the community.

In both cases, things went okay until Nature said, "Yeah, about that..." In the case of the Christians, it was a major drought and famine; in the case of La Reunion it was (IIRC) a freak snowstorm in like April or May (killed the crops). Because they had been living the Communist Lifestyle, no one had any reserves they could use to survive the natural setback.

So even if you ignore human nature (and the fact that such behavior does not "scale"), and everyone really would work for "the collective," at some point there would be a flood, or a drought, or a hail storm, or something that would wreak devastation on "the collective" and everyone would have to resort to private ownership, or starve.

Yeah, probably. But I fear we'll have to go over quite the mound to get the Low info voters to acknowledge the existance of such open and outright awfulness in this administration. There's the desire to believe that presidents are de facto, decent people and above all that (and Obama works hard to cultivate that image among those who don't know better.)
Plus "Solyndra" is a nameless faceless group, making it harder to pin "bribe" on that. But playing venture capitalist with tax dollars is almost as bad, and easier to explain to the LIV's, so I'm sticking with that.
Plus as far as "pure and simple bribery" goes, we've got the GM bailout to the unions to highlight as an example of that, and it's a much easier sell IMHO.

Good news on that front: My brother and his wife both voted for Obama in 08 and will have absolutely nothing to do with him this time around. I badgered him on his FB page time after time, inciting FB riots with him comrades, but he came out about four months ago and has since been defriended by the multitude.

Best thing is he is asking all his buddies, "Are you really better off than four years ago?" One of the guest hosts who fills in for Howie Carr on WRKO in Boston, Colonel Hunt, is on record as having voted for Obama. Callers who call in to Howie's show invariably give the Colonel hell for doing something so idiotic. A couple weeks ago Howie asked his listeners, "Okay, so how long will it be before Colonel Hunt is forgiven for voting for Obama? How much longer?"

The almost unanimous response was, "NEVER." And here's why.

Anyone with a functioning brain -- and this includes progressives who aren't complete retards -- knew that Obama was nothing but smoke and mirrors. He was an affirmative action twerp who'd never produced a damn thing in his entire life. He had zero experience in a position as intensive as the Presidency, and it was obvious that he was a mean, thin-skinned, nasty little man with communist roots and dictatorial vision.

Therefore anyone with a brain who voted for the asshole has permanently revoked his or her right to ever be respected again. I know Colonel Hunt has a brain; he acted... stupidly. And for that he is NEVER going to be forgiven.

It's nice, then, to see that all those brainless people who voted for the SCOAMT are starting to wake up and realize they voted for an empty suit with an outsized ego, and they're not afraid to say so. They MIGHT just redeem all the supposedly smart people who voted for the JEF because they liked the idea of him enough to ignore the reality.

MIGHT redeem them. But I doubt it.

145 yeah, group projects in school were supposed to teach teamwork but instead taught things like:

I had one teacher who got it even sort of right (in TX, at the time, teachers were required to do the occasional "group project"). She graded the the project. Then, based on what she had observed in class, and what the other kids in your group wrote on an evaluation card, she gave you a percentage of that grade.

So if your group got an 85, and her little formula determined you should get 80% of that, you got a 68.

I say "sort of right" because High School kids are evil, and sabotaging another kid's grade did happen occasionally (that's why she also used her own observations- to help cut down on that, but nothing's perfect), but it was far better than all my other teachers who basically guaranteed that I would do all the work (because I wanted a good grade) and the other kids could just coast.

Earlier this week our patriot group hadlocal, state and national voter-integrity group spokespeople talk about some of the voting tactics in '08 and what's in store for '12. 165 The Geneva-based human rights organization UN Watch has issued a press statement criticizing the UN for failing to describe yesterday's attack on Israeli tourists in Bulgaria "terrorism." The attack, which Israel blamed on Iran and which claimed seven lives, marked a new escalation in the confrontation between Iran and the rest of the world, as well as the return of international terror to the security forefront. But despite the urgent nature of the issue, and the horrific nature of the attack, the UN could not bring itself to call it "terror."
UN Watch has the details:
A U.N. spokesperson said that Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned the attack "in the strongest possible terms." In fact, however, the U.N. chief's choice of terms was weak in comparison to his statement two weeks ago on the bombing of churches in Kenya. In that case, Mr. Ban rightly spoke of "terrorist"attacks, "reprehensible and criminal," saying the perpetrators "must be held to account." Yet today hereferred only to the deadly "bombing" of Israelis -- noticeably declining to describe it as an act of terrorism -- and he made no call for holding the perpetrators to account. UN Watch today urged Mr. Ban to clarify his position and to truly use the strongest possible terms to condemn today's terrorist attack.
U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay has remained silent on today's attack. By contrast, hours after the Gaza Flotilla incident of 2010, Ms. Pillay expresed her "shock" and condemned Israel. The top story on her office website instead criticizes Western states for how they combat terrorism, with America accused of having "dangerous" laws that violate due process. Supported by a Facebook campaign now going viral, UN Watch called on the High Commissioner to speak out for victims of terrorism, condemn today's gruesome murders in Bulgaria, and instruct her staff to investigate the perpetrators and hold them fully accountable for the crimes.
The U.N.'s 47-nation Human Rights Council has also stayed silent. By contrast, in 2004 it wasted no time in convening an emergency session to eulogize Hamas terrorist leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, and to condemn Israel. Currently, the council is busy with yet another "fact-finding mission" into alleged Israeli human rights violations. The council has never mandated an inquiry into terrorism or rocket attacks targeting Israelis.
