Happy Tuesday.

Aaron Worthing writes about his SWATting last night.

I forgot to post this last week: Komen has seen a huge drop in participants and donors since its decision to keep funding Planned Parenthood earlier this year.

Rep. Darrell Issa continues to press on Fast and Furious, only now the White House is in the spotlight. AG Holder's contempt vote is scheduled for Thursday.

1 This swatting business is getting out of hand.

The individuals involved should be arrested on attempted murder charges.

Death By Cop is a very real and likely outcome.

6 McCain wants to close “tax loopholes” to avoid cuts to military, other Senators don’t agree. The Hill gleefully calls this a dispute among Republicans. I call it McShitty being the asshole RINO that he is.

“Closing Loopholes” is a euphemism for a tax increase by eliminating deductions. We did not get here with tax decreases and we will not get out by tax increases. In the history of tax increases we have NEVER decreased the deficits. The big spending assholes ALWAYS increase spending more than they increase taxes. And not only that, a tax increase rarely means more taxes collected in the long run. It is a temporary gain at best.

8 The sugar lobby demonstrates how to buy Senators including the media darling Marco Rubio. And they swing right into line. A lot of people think this helps protect American farmers. It doesn’t, mostly heavy users switch to corn sugar so it winds up hurting regular people and candy makers. We used to have 2 factories in my area that made candy for major candy companies. Both have shutdown and moved to Mexico. And it wasn’t the so-called high priced labor that made them shut down. It was the insane sugar prices in this country due to crony corruption like this.

Generally on days such as this local utilities do not have enough generation to handle it and they make short term buys from areas that are not experiencing the heat wave and who have excess generation available.

Although these short term contracts are very expensive, they are cheaper in the long run.

It's not just a case of "if Bush had done this...." Congress, including the Republican controlled House said no. Congress is not capable of controlling the military budget in a manner other than what gives them pork. Any military cuts that happen will start with reducing personnel and then move to armaments. Except new one to be manufactured in their home States.

68 CA gets over 50% of its power from out of State, mostly from Washington State and the Hoover dam. A few years ago they had a big heat wave at the same time Washington was experiencing a drought which cut back their available generation.

CA had massive rolling blackouts at the same time they introduced huge penalties for using more than a small amount of electricity. (this was over and above their already high rates).

A friend of mine who was living in Hayward at the time said her electric bill was running $1500 a month WITHOUT the A/C running.

All that changed nothing. They are insane in CA.

74 Good morning, 'rons and 'ronettes. Thanks for the news roundup, Gabe and Vic. I think MrScribbler's got it right with SCOTUS. My prediction? Arizona gets fucked and Obastardcare sails through (I always look for the cloud in every silver lining). I'll eat my hat if I'm wrong (especially on health), but I'm too much of a cynic to think we'll win on these.

Anyway - sorry to have missed yesterday. Took yesterday and today off from work, so I'll just be making this one Hollywood post until tomorrow:

In the 1930s, one of the most famous bordellos was "The House of Francis," at 8439 Hollywood Boulevard. Lee Francis, the madam, had a motto: We can satisfay all desires. Of course, that wasn't quite true. She claimed she didn't hire underage girls, even though many of her customers took her motto seriously and asked for girls under twelve. One even asked for a five-year-old.

Which leads us to the MGM bordello, founded on the sly as a way to profit from their stars' appetites (and, not incidentally, to have blackmail material ready to hand). After a Jean Harlow double was presented to a major South American distributor as the real thing, Howard Strickling (MGM's "fixer), got the idea to use out-of-work actresses to impersonate various stars such as Alice Faye, Joan Crawford and Carole Lombard. To Strickling's surprise, the star's name that came up most often as a desired bed partner was - Shirley Temple.

Of course, even MGM wasn't going to sell children into sex. But shortly afterwards, a young girl (a legal 18,but who looked no older than 13, especially when dressed up as Temple) was discovered who was willing to go along with the pretense. She proved to be so popular with the clientele - whose most repeated request was "I want you to suck my lollipop" - that Strickling had to find two more fake Shirleys to handle the demand.

In the words of gossip columnist Sidney Skolsky, "Don't get me wrong - I love Hollywood."

79 "Arab Spring provided new breeding ground for British terrorists – spy chief"
25 June, Tom Whitehead, Security Editor, The Telegraph, UK

The Director General of Britain's domestic spy agency MI5, Jonathan Evans describing "the Arab world in radical transition" said the al-Qaeda styled terror network has taken advantage of the unstable region, in the wake of last year’s revolutions, to spread its influence and create new bases for attacks. The Arab Spring has spawned a new generation of [Western]-born terrorists after al-Qaeda lured dozens of would-be bombers abroad to train for possible attacks on the [West]. Further terrorist acts in the West will negatively impact the weak economy (EURO collapse will spawn opportunistic domestic violence) should the Eurozone [EU] collapse, cyber attack hacking sponsored by State and Criminals will ruin business with "real world damage" [v. virtual world?], Western Governments' "right" to snoop through private citizen/business email/phone must be expanded, etc.
--

The growth of State Authoritarianism is NOT protecting citizens or commerce, but strangling us all with constricting promises that do not tolerate mention of "Peace" or "Liberty" or "Pursuit of Happiness" let alone Rule of Law.

Evans fails to acknowledge NATO enabling the very Arab Spring revolutions' success rate. Duh. Now public hand wringing?

Cut the strings.

Because it's actually very hard to prove who the SWATer is. They often use disposable phones, paid with cash (like the terrorists they are) and registered (if at all) under a false name.

111 Anna, yes, I'm using a variation of the bordello in the book I'm writing now.

I took the idea from a passage in Budd Schulberg's memoir Moving Pictures: Memories of a Hollywood Prince. Schulberg, the writer of What Makes Sammy Run?, was the son of B.P. Schulberg, one of the founders of Famous Players, which eventually morphed into Paramount. He mentions the Alexandria Hotel at Fifth and Spring, where a small call-girl ring was run, and out of town hicks looking for a famous face were suckered by con men who offered to put them in bed with "Gloria Swanson," "Norma Talmadge" or "Phyllis Haver." The MGM brothel was just that con written large.

It's a really long article on Yahoo finance. Some excerpts:

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) – Conservatives like to complain that Barack
Obama is the most liberal president we’ve ever had, a closet Marxist
who’s determined to turn America into a socialist hell.

Actual liberals, socialists and closet Marxists have a different
view: Obama is pragmatic moderate who resembles Dwight Eisenhower more
than he does Che Guevara.
Liberals will vote for Obama over Mitt Romney, but they aren’t happy
with him. And here are the four biggest reasons why they aren’t:

He didn’t end the depression.

Many liberals thought Obama would be the second coming of FDR.
However, the response under Obama was inadequate to the task. Millions
of people are suffering needlessly as a result.
(FDR didn't end the depression)
He continued George W. Bush’s war policies.
He has not changed the way Washington works.
He has not done anything meaningful to halt global warming.
What bothers liberals is not Obama’s failures, but the way he failed:
Without a whimper. Obama forgot the first rule of organizing, which is
to make sure that your failures strengthen you for the next fight.

I guess not enforcing laws and running roughshod over the Constitution just isn't enough for the libturds

It may be difficult to determine the exact location/number but they can determine that the call's origin is being cloaked in some manner. They can require a caller to affirm their location somehow and they definitely should allow calls like that to be treated as the maximum threat situation that they do.

It's not rocket science.

176 I have a certain fondness for The Big Valley, even though I greatly disliked Westerns as a kid. (I saw too much of them due to my horse crazy older sister watching them just for beasts. Fortunately that ended when she had a beast of her own.)

But The Big Valley used a lot of locations I knew firsthand as a kid. As a teenager one of my friend's older bandmates rented a room in Lynn Ranch from a guy who directed a ton of 60s TV, especially that show. The Lynn Ranch section of Thousand Oaks was like a mini-Beverly Hills for the horse-lovers who worked in film and TV with a lot of location work in the rea.

"The Herald goes on to point out that women have been taking the bar exam in New Jersey since 1895, and a spokeswoman for the New Jersey Judiciary says she is "not aware" if the state tracked the nursing habits of those taking the bar."

The original changed the premise for the Cylons at least twice. They soon decided they were all robots who'd been created by the reptiles and wiped them out. But they forgot that when it suited them and had contradictory references. The source material, the Book of Mormon, didn't cover that area and Ken Johnson never got around to defining it before they'd already made more than one contradictory reference.

But the pilot/movie had a race of insectoid aliens who ran a resort that was a front for a Soylent Green operation.

yes, I've seen the reports that surface from time to time in the media over the past 30 years. The Audacity of slavery in the USA: Go Obama!

The rule applies across the board, regardless of nationality.

Elitist authoritarians consider themselves entitled to abuse the serfs. In fact, the elitist mentality is so perverse, they ENJOY sadism, proving their evil power to debase life of OTHERS.

Syria elitists provide the easy targeted examples, being the site desired by Obama for another WAR. But by no means do Syrian elitists monopolize the practice. Everyone involved with the practice are in the same mother ship of pirates. For all the other pirates to march Syria off the plank in order to save and EXPAND their own authoritarianism hardly strikes a victory for humanity. When the Syrian regime falls, every minority indigenous population in Syria is doomed to genocide by the Saudi Wahhabi "Muslim Brotherhood" radicals.

The Saudis practice and trade in human trafficking through their own borders, for their own profit and exercise of regional authoritarianism, far WORSE than the horrible Syrians. But where's the outcry or even the acknowledgment? Rather, note well the alliances.

At home, Obama's regressive administration IS converting American citizenship into serfdom without recourse to Rule of Law, let alone separate branches of government with limited and balanced powers, or any Bill of Rights. Natural Rights? Outmoded, old fashioned, irrelevant, inapplicable.

Pfft on humanity as the US taxpayers through NATO not simply destabilized the entire Middle East, but augment the Wahhabi Saudi influence to rule all populations but Israel. And how is "PEACE" between the radical Islamic Caliphate Saudi Arabia and Israel?

This is, of course, true, but most terrorists aren't caught and convicted because we tracked their disposable phones or pierced serial internet proxies.

Terrorists are more often caught and convicted because they work with other scumbags who are picked up on other offenses (e.g., drugs, child porn, failure to pay child support, etc.) and these other scumbags are induced to turn on their "comrades", or the terrorists are caught and convicted because like the dummies they are they can't help but brag about their nefarious activities (in general their lives are empty, worthless shells, so their criminal activities are all they have to make themselves look "real").

All that said, it still takes dedicated law enforcement resources to exploit such vulnerabilities. Local law enforcement is ill suited to such tasks due to the "local" nature of their authority, and under this administration the Feds are unlikely to be strongly motivated to pursue leftists terrorists for obvious reasons.

Should the Feds decide to take SWAT-ing seriously, I have no doubt they could squash it as effectively as they have other forms of in-country terrorism. Rf., Mafia, KKK, etc. It's really a function of whether they care to do so.

Not to mention hopelessly unrealistic in such large numbers. The badass girl might kick other girls' asses, or even average guys, but they don't stack up against other badass guys...ever.

When I was in the Marines and we had redeveloped our martial arts program, the females used to think I was biased or sexist. I would allow them to execute new techniques on me or other males, then I would tell them "Ok, now I'm not going to cooperate. I won't actively try and counter anything you do, I'm just not going to cooperate." Suddenly they couldn't execute any of these "cool" new techniques they learned. Then I would actively resist and counter and it never lasted more than seconds.

I would tell them "This isn't bias or sexism, and I'm not picking on you. I'm introducing you to the reality that if you ever find yourself in these situations of hand to hand combat with no weapon, you are hopelessly outmatched against even the average male. You are smaller and weaker. This shit we're teaching you is nice to know, but you need to go for throat, eyes, and nuts."

Absolutely. The most operative part is that the FBI and local PDs aren't all that interested in pursuing it. SWATing isn't something that's going to make someone a Law Enforcement Rock-star, it's not going to make someone's career, and no one "important" has been targeted, yet.

It will take either someone "important" being targeted, or someone getting killed before Law Enforcement takes it seriously enough to stop.

True. At least some of the time it's handled more-or-less "realisticially" (for the premise of the TV show, anyway). 230 The government stimulus had a multiplier effect of 0. It did nothing for job growth or GDP growth in the US. Combine the inefficiency of US fiscal policy with the continued implosion of Europe, and you have a world wide malaise. In China, because of macro economic effects, wages are rising, costs to produce are increasing. Companies are also wary of both the poor property rights system and the lengthened supply chain. China is slowing down.

The economies of the world aren’t going to contract because of government spending decreasing. They are going to contract because the continued machinations of the world’s central bankers have screwed up the costs of capital normally paid by the markets. The money that they have printed hasn’t gone into the productive marketplace. Instead, it went to shore up balance sheets and sits.

Money isn’t turning over. There is no velocity.

That was one of my biggest disappointments with the Sword of Truth TV series. In the books Kalin's power was largely centered around being a Confessor, although she could wield a sword having been taught by her step-father. IN the TV series she routinely kicked ass against 300 pound males in hand to hand combat.

I suspect it had a NEGATIVE multiplier--much of it went to beef up public employee union pension funds, in other words it went into retirement bank accounts, and wasn't "spent" in the economy at all. So, in effect, it removed money from the economy. In addition, it induced an inevitable chilling effect when everyone with a working brain realized that we'd likely have to raise taxes to economy-crushing levels to pay back all that borrowed/fabricated stimulus money.

In other words, it didn't just fail to HELP, it actually made things WORSE.

Thanks for posting this excellent adecdote. In the mental mass-disconnect that is modern life, people have genuinely forgotten this is true. Some friends of mine are married to women who imagine themselves tough and trained. I, as a man, am not especiallytough or trained relative to other men, and I've invited them to show me how easy it is to subdue me. Like you - I just didn't cooperate. They were... dismayed... by the result.

Posted by: Reactionary at June 26, 2012 10:01 AM (xUM1Q)

242 Then stimulus actually had a negative impact on the economy. This for two reasons, first and foremost government spending rarely does nothing for long term impact because it is a circular hole. It pulls money out of the private sector and spends it in the public sector for a net negative impact.

Second, the first "stimulus" and largest passed by Pelosi when they had full control spent almost NOTHING on actual infrastructure. Mostly they threw it away on socialist programs the commies had been wanting for decades. What little building they did was for schools and shit government buildings, largely in urban areas where commies rule.

At least FDR built roads and public works.

Again: true. The main point, for women defending themselves, is that there is no such thing as a "fair fight." If you have a weapon, use it. If you don't, go for disabling shots (eyes, throat, crotch, diaphragm), and then get away. A woman proficient in Krav Maga, for example, can put you down in a hurry- but that's because she's been trained a) to put you down in a hurry and b) that if she doesn't, she's likely to lose.

The same is true, of course, in the "small, fast guy vs the big bruiser" in Hollywood. HWood would have you believe the small guy would win every time. In real life, the big guy does 9 times out of 10.

Things tended to be kind of haphazard on Ken Johnson shows. They'd usually throw out a bunch of intriguing tidbits early on an then forget them or have them shot down by a studio exec a year after they'd appeared in the show bible.

Did you know the Pournelle and Niven novel 'Footfall' was originally developed as the premise for 'V?' Larry and Jerry were hired as consultants to come up with a rational premise for an alien invasion. They spent a night hanging out in a jacuzzi and drinking while taking notes. The movies rarely make sense on why it is worth any interstellar civilization's trouble to conquer a place like our planet when there is vast amounts of uncontested real estate and resources out there.

The guy who hired them (I'm not sure if Johnson was yet involved) brought them in for a presentation to a studio exec. Jerry started laying out the scenario and almost immediately the studio guy says, "Why do I need to listen to any of this. Just make it about stealing stuff or eating people."

So Jerry and Larry left, cashed a nice big check for their time, and then wrote 'Footfall.'

Of course women are proficient with weapons. But they aren't capable of competing against a determined male in hand to hand combat. They just aren't. I've never seen a woman, no matter how strong or badass, beat an average male in hand to hand combat training. It's actually a very stark contrast when you tell the men not to treat them like a girl.

That sort of attitude gets women into trouble quite frequently. They take their self defense courses or get a 2nd degree blackbelt in some martial art and think they're going to sucessfully kick some dude's ass who's determined to rape or kill them. The most badass women I've ever known are very well aware of this and will train other women accordingly (throat, eyes, nuts).

1) They didn't "kick in [his door]." They knocked and insisted he open the door. Yes, they would have kicked it in had no one answered, or had he refused to open the door, but they thought they had an armed murderer in the house.

2) Getting a 911 call "I shot my wife" is almost certainly "reasonable suspicion" which means they get to kick down the door. If nothing else, "shot" does not mean "dead," and we have an awesome gunshot survival rate if help can get to you fast enough- would you rather they wait long enough for the victim to bleed out?

Don't blame the police for this- they had no idea who he was, and they took precautions because they had some idea he might have been the victim, here- and it turns out they were right.

The police do plenty of bad stuff we can blame on them, there's no reason to add things of which they are not guilty.

Based on the timing and assignments and outcomes of these big cases this week, do you still think that the court doesn't pay close attention to the political impact of their rulings and adjust accordingly?

The Arizona ruling sure seems political. And it looks like they've timed the Obmacare ruling to get out of town fast. Did they try to appease the left with the AZ ruling because they know they'll spank them on Obamacare?

They sure weren't impressed with the Administration's severability argument (something like, "You want us or our law clerks to go through the whole law and pick out what's affected?"), so the whole thing is probably going down.

269 emocrats canceled a political convention kick-off event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and will move the activities to Charlotte’s main business district, the convention’s host committee announced.

“While we regret having to move CarolinaFest away from our great partners at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and the City of Concord, we are thrilled with the opportunity that comes with hosting this event in Uptown Charlotte,” said Dan Murrey, the executive director of the Charlotte in 2012 Convention Host Committee.

The move comes as party planners are grappling with a fundraising deficit of roughly $27 million, according to two people familiar with the matter who requested anonymity to discuss internal party politics. With a party ban on direct contributions from corporations, the host committee has raised less than $10 million, well short of its $36.6 million goal, said one of the people.

..................................
Hold on .. Hold on ...

Officials said neither money nor cost is a factor in the move. Democrats have denied news reports that they are having trouble raising the $36.6 million needed to fund the convention.

Just last month, the local host committee unveiled an official stock car for the Democratic National Convention – and said it could have taken a spin around the speedway at the Labor Day event.

I agree with your thought that training from a suburban milf infested dojo can give women a false sense of themselves. I have been wondering if they are tailoring the prices to you. By they I mean the big sites on the internet. I notice if I want something at a reasonable price I have to shop for it and put things in my carts. Then leave it alone for a week. When you don't buy it, they panic and send you all kinds of incentives. If you do your research and know what you want and what it costs you won't buy it until it is at least that price. I wondered how brick and mortar store would survive against internet pricing with free shipping. It's because the internet shopping community doesn't mind killing the golden goose. The last ten things I would have quickly purchased online for the right price, were, instead, purchased at brick and mortar stores.

291 If the police are smart, they won't go kicking doors in without a warrant. In the first place, its a good way to be justifyably shot (see recent IN ruling), and in the second place it can lead to suppression of whatever evidence they try to use from the house.

292 Those who give up liberty for security will get neither. It's a small miracle they didn't murder every pet in the house and traumatize his children. Enough is enough.
The vicious people who are making these calls no doubt got the idea in the first place from the proliferation of SWAT teams pounding in the wrong door and shooting innocent people dead.

Any annonymous tip was never suppose to be probable cause.

Word. When I first met Mrs928, she had been taking some women's self-defense course. I asked her what she would do if someone just grabbed her and held on. She gave me all this mumbo about stomping insteps and stuff so I said Show me. She walked by, I grabbed her from behind and inverted her. She was rather nonplussed being upside down.

I recommended she stick to her knife work, at which she is still pretty proficient.

I started going to LASFS meetings a few months before the hardback publication of 'Footfall.' It was on the second reading about a year later that I realized I knew some of these people. This in turn made me realize I knew some of the people in their earlier books and solo works. For example, the recurring character nicknamed Elephant in some of Niven's Beowulf Schaeffer stories was actually a SMOF named Bruce Pelz.

The intel officer named Jenny in 'Footfall' is Jerry's daughter Jennifer and she really was an intel officer until she resigned during the first Gulf War period. She's in archaeology now. The original draft had her shooting the Carter-esque President who wasn't going to demand unconditional surrender from the aliens. Their editor convince them this wouldn't go over well with a lot of readers and and the scene was changed to everybody in the command center going on strike and refusing to follow the President's orders.

Wow, I was recently selected for jury duty. As per instructions called night before to find out, all the cases had been settled for the week. So no jury duty. Which meant watching all the other juror candidates try to invent reasons to get removed. The funniest was a person claiming jury duty would prevent them from participating in a Mardi Gras krewe. The judge was unimpressed and denied their excuse.

Exception to the rule. I've watched hundreds of matchups. Even when a girl wins (very very rarely) in a real contest it's because the guy is in a no-win situation. "You really kicked that chick's ASS dude!" Most of those times, the guy is just playing defense.

Hah! Fat chance of either.

The Indiana law, which the police union fought tooth and nail against, only protects you if you shoot a cop who's commiting a crime. It was in response to an innocent homeowner going to jail for defending himself against an un-announced raid, and that man is still going to jail and the law offers nothing to protect him anyway, since those police were operating 'according to procedure' even if they did have the wrong house.

And these days courts are not inclined to put any limits in place at all.

The whole badass woman fighter thing is interesting but I think it is also part of a larger misconception that people have about an actual street fight. It isn't a movie. Every street fight I have seen or was part of when I was younger is over very quickly. Not one was like a movie where it went back and forth, trading blows. You punch the other guy in the nose hard and get those eyes watering and it will be over in just a few seconds after that.

For the first time in modern American history, the incumbent (that's us)
will get outspent in a re-election campaign -- by some estimates as
much as 3-to-1.

Over the last 10 days of this month alone, GOP outside groups will spend $20 million attacking President Obama on TV.

Think about that, then think about what they'll spend over the last 10 days in October.

We have to take this seriously. Four months to go in this election, and
we have a huge fundraising deadline coming up in less than a week -- any
day we're not chipping away at that disadvantage, we're falling behind.

Please donate $3 or more today.

We don't have billionaires writing $10 million checks, and right now, we
can't change the laws that allow the hijacking of our democracy by
private money.

What we do have is more than 2 million donors grassroots giving an
average donation of $51. Every day between now and November we can
combat the huge spending advantage that our opponent and his allies have
over regular people.

You mean Sarah Jessica Parker gave up a day's worth of oats and donated an average of $51?

You know what the campaign should do? Have a campaign to win a round of golf with the Pres. Be a lot more chances to win with that.

Being a professional athlete throws a spanner in the works, especially against someone who doesn't work out much. When my sister-in-law was young and actively competing in martial arts she was pretty badass. My brother, who is pretty athletic himself but never one for team sports, said he really had to work for it when they sparred. But much of that was because she was fast and very adverse to letting an opponent grab her and press a strength advantage.

That was a long time ago and she hasn't seriously trained in about twenty years. She would be more of a challenge than the average woman in her early 50s but she would get beaten badly by a clone of herself that had been training for a month or more. That little difference in strength and practice in the moves would be a big advantage all else was equal.

In this Intelligence Report: How did the shooter's lawyer manage to win such a case?

Twenty-one-year-old Kenneth Green was asleep in his Roseland apartment two years ago when a Chicago Police team showed up with a search warrant for drugs.

Cops used a battering ram to get in.

When police kicked through the bottom of Green's bedroom door, he shot through the door wounding two of the officers. Despite admitting all that, Green got off claiming self-defense.

The early morning raid by police on Green's Roseland apartment building ended in almost three dozen shots fired, mostly by police, after veteran officers Scott McKenna and Danny O'Toole were wounded through the door. The officers would survive, but that day in 2009, Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis used the incident to take a stand.

"People are trying to murder police officers left and right," Weis said.

After he shot two policeman, Green was arrested on the spot and charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a gun and held without bond.

Last week, after a several day trial, Green was found not guilty. His attorney, Marcus Schantz, told the I-Team that he convinced the jury that Green didn't know they were police outside his door executing a legal search warrant.

360 Well that's lucky for him. The guy in IN I am pretty sure is still in jail.

361 I agree! The scariest part of Dead Space 2 was when you returned to the disheveled Ishimura. I was waiting for something to attack me the entire time. Nothing really did until you got deep into the ship's bowels, though. The suspense just kept building.

357 IMO, Dead Space 1 was scarier than 2 because of the setting.

362 That comment by Weis is fun though.

In IN, a bunch of union hacks were calling the law protecting people who shoot cops who are commiting crimes "open season on law enforcement".

It's like when they oppose civillian review boards because "criminals will vote them out just for doing their job". Wait, criminal review boards? I thought it was civillian review boards... who do they think the criminals are? Oh, right.

I was initially creeped out by the mutated babies floating in the tanks, thinking they were children the crew had while out in space. Later it was explained they were clones used for organ replacement. Still fucking creepy though, because at the time it came out, my son was an infant and was crawling around like one of those things. I didn't sleep well for a looooong time because of that game. It really mind-fucked me that much.

364 She is practically a moderate Republican, but I can't convince her to switch parties.

___

You should tell her you like the idea of having a two-party household. (Countdown to her switching..3..2..1..)

Try this: end every comment with "in accordance with the prophecy".

366 Professor Joel Brind, an endocrinologist at Baruch College in New York, worked with several scientists on a 1996 paper published in the Journal of Epidemiol Community Health showing a “30% greater chance of developing breast cancer” for women who have induced abortions. He recently commented on how many women have become victims.

“If we take the overall risk of breast cancer among women to be about 10% (not counting abortion), and raise it by 30%, we get 13% lifetime risk,” Brind explains. Using the 50 million abortions since Roe v. Wade figure, we get 1.5 million excess cases of breast cancer. At an average mortality of 20% since 1973, that would mean that legal abortion has resulted in some 300,000 additional deaths due to breast cancer since Roe v. Wade.”

367 #191, I am not a sock, I am a progressive American from Vermont who hates all of you because you are right-wing haters. I especially hate the racist Ewok who runs this site. The only good thing he does is provide a convenient spot where you can gather and be watched. But someday we of correct thought will be able to re-educate all of you to make a better world. But it is a lovely day in Brattleboro, and I am now going to go tend my twenty-foot Obama logo made of red, white, and blue flowers we planted downtown.

Yeah, not that easy. I'll settle for her not voting for Obama again, I got a lot of mileage from that the past couple years.

Thank you Vic.

I just wish they would explain the situation completely.

Posted by: General Woundwort at June 26, 2012 07:03 AM (06lNq) ______Hey General, your regional electrical grid is called ERCOT, Electric Reliability Council of Texas. Go to ERCOT.com to get the information that you need. It's all public domain stuff though a little hard to understand at times. Use Wikipedia to explain some of the concepts like LMP.Mickey
