43 It is arrogance that makes liberals believe that they are centrist. This is not just true of Obama and his people, but also, entertainment industry people, and people in the news industry.
They surround themselves with people who think exactly like themselves, and therefore think that this is the way anyone who is reasonable thinks.

Am I a centrist? Hell no. I'm to the right of RINO's and I'm not so needy and pathetic, that I have to think that my views match everyone in the middle.

And if these "centrists" consider people who want limits in taxation, and limits in size of government to be extremists, screw 'em.

91 Someone already said it, above, but this is a sterling example of the odd ideological bubble that progressives live in every single day of their lives. To be able to say, with a straight face, that Krugman and Sullivan are reasonable and centrist voices, is only possible if one ONLY hears voices that agree with the President, and a large number of those voices must be pretty strident to make those two look reasonable.

What a complete lack of self-awareness.

104 I had to see it to believe it.
Yes- he actually said Krugman is the best economist out there. NOW you can see why the economy has not turned around. Krugman and Obama are two of the most idiotic 'prize' winners in the history of our republic. And walking in lock step is the obvious reason why the country is in decline. for shame.

106 @43 - Hi nerdygirl, just always remember, when the jackasses like shumer, pelosi, the LSM etc use the extremist tag, their talking about people who want to actually follow that crazy, outdated constitution. Badge of honor young lady.

110 MBM would pull another Seamus if Romney identified some birther as his favorite columnist.

But Obama can embrace a Pope-hating, anti-Semitic Trig Truther as his favored journalist.

Sickening.

111 Obama is a stuttering clusterf*ck of a miserable failure.

112 Andrew Sullivan's on the Daily Beast being an example, that combine thoughtful analysis with a sampling of lots of essays that are out there
Seriously? The guy who spent years obsessed with the idea he made up that Sarah Palin's baby wasn't really hers? Crazy Andy? God.
I am continually creeped out by a President singling out private citizens to criticize. I can't remember any president doing that habitually in the past.

113 Every time Obama tries to proclaim himself to be a centrist, this should be thrown in his face. He's a leftist ideologue.

114 Norman Rockwell was in bed with a lot of lib-socialists-progressives in
his day....which is a shame, because he was a really talented guy.

*****

He's always been easy to underestimate because of the simplicity of his subjects and because he was so commercial. I likes his work, but ever really appreciated it until I saw a piece in our Cummer Museum here in Jax. It is titled "Second Holiday" and looks like a nice elderly couple sitting in a train or bus depot, heading off for vacation. Then, in the right, you notice a man dressed in white, casually leaning against a bench, and in his hand, is a stethoscope.

Not as simple as it first appears.
