We always build the sets from the plan first, but after playing with them for some time, the pieces end up being more valuable as spare parts for our new Frankensteins than they are as part of the set.

I am not so sure she is as horrible looking as some of the teachers in the history of student humping. They should take attractiveness into account in prosecuting the crimes. If the teacher was hot the kid will at least be regarded as a hero, otherwise he has to hang is head and explain he got taken advantage of or suffer quietly.

Larenkov is a frigging genius. He lives in St. Petersburg - and the central, historic part of the city is basically unchanged from WWII, so it's possible to do those shots in many locations there. (I've commented that it's a good thing that the October Revolution occurred in downtown St. Petersburg, since it kept the Communists from tearing it down.)
His photos are incredibly moving - the modern, well dressed population of St. Petersburg merging with mothers towing the wrapped corpses of their dead children down the street on sleds during the Siege of Leningrad.

fishing gear ready for opening day. For any flyfishers here, I have a
half dozen nylon mesh bags that I stuff my lines in, and toss in the
washer to clean. Does a great job, though you want to make sure the bag
doesn't open during the wash cycle. Trust me on that.
So for at least 3 days, no domesticity for me. Just fishing, with one day reserved for the grandkids.
Clean fishing lines? Mine go on the reel, and usually have to be peeled off....but give me a size 12 royal wulff, a sunny colorado day like today, and a section of the St. Vrain north of Lyons....and I am in paradise.

Okay, that sounds like the streams I fish in the
Adirondacks for brookies. Got a Fenwick 7.5 foot glass rod that is ideal
for those conditions. 5 wt line and 1.5 lb test leader and you can have
fun all day.
I had an Elkhorn 5pc 4 weight that was 7 feet long that was the perfect fit for this stretch of the St. Vrain river that we call 'the secret spot'....it's no secret actually, just a pain to hike into and a death march to get out of. Nobody else there...plentiful fish that are so dumb, I would be disappointed if I didn't hook one within the first two casts. Mostly browns, but every now and then you lay into a spectacular rainbow. And like I said: dumb...the #12 royal wulff knocks em' dead every day, all day.

Where we live, 34 years ago, you could see one red light on a tower on the hillside miles away. With suburban creep, now it's houselights and rural neighbors with big *@($& steet light poles on all night, and the glow from the town 7 miles north is worse than the glow from the big city 50 miles south used to be. The Spring night sky is still mighty beautiful for now, just less of them, and deep darkness less often. Duh. I have a bad habit of playing captain obvious in situations like this (which could be dangerous) and I am sure i wasn't invited because i am an unknown quantity.
They just got made aware i existed when a text meant for me, went to Grim's brother, instead-- explaining he had done the dishes, started laundry and had gone to the gym, but that hed swung by the donut shop on the way home on his run so there was my breakie on the counter XO Grim...
caused quite a sensation i take it. And Grim found out that sometimes sending a brief text saying merely "please disregard" causes more questions than it squelches. so this family gathering should be ... interesting for the questions-adverse Grim, who hates discussing his personal life with his (very nosy) family. I think they assumed he was living with some ex marine guys or Aurochs.

Personally, I used to watch t.v. news, including Matthews, but mostly Fox, occasionally happened upon Obermann and O'Reilly. Gave them all up, one at a time, starting with Keith and then down to where I won't even consider Breit Breir and his "all-stars" or whatever they call them now. This happened after way too many unfortunate Obama extremely stupid and idiot blunders of the day that weren't ever mentioned. They'd chew over the purpose of funding this or that, and then have a hardy chuckle over some 10 sec. mishap of the day....AS in all's well that ends well.

We used to fish out of Schroon Lake. I don't know the names of the creeks...we'd just walk out the cabin into the hills and fish one of three creeks that were close by.

All table skeletons assembled. Two tables in place. One has all the drawers in and about 1/2 the stuff stowed away. Shop is a Huuuuuuuuuuuugggggge mess even though I spent all day cleaning. I have to finish cleaning before I can finish the 3rd (outfeed) table. After it is cleaned up, I still have to get the base for the last table in place and leveled, set the table on the base, assemble the vises and bench dogs, and set the top in place.

i blew up. (its my dear friends lib douche brother) I asked him what the hell he though paid for my groceries? Military budget pays military men who buy groceries for their wives and kids. i pointed out the VA and tricare is his precious govt healthcare. Asked if he thought it was less wasteful to pay a military workin stiff in some shithole to feed his family, or to pay some stupid mouthbreather smoking pot to sit on the sofa plau PS3 and make babies?
He had no good answer. he hates stupid lazy people and i know when he thinks social programs, he means not having to pay for his own insurance since hes self emplyed. Hes one of those people who is so smart hes dumb and his biggest defect is hes such a asshole and an atheist hes 14 yo daughter is suicidal, convinced all life is pointless. The wonderful dad keeps firing shrinks for being "witch doctors" he wants one that will use "science! (TM)" to save his daughter. Yeah i laughed in his face and told him hes gonna wait a loooong time for that too. Damn. Guess i was pissy today.... i should not be left unaccompanied for too long!

Funny story though. My grandma ( she passed away in 06) was a big, big big astros fan. Well one night they had to life flight her to houston so i drove my mom and aunt to the hospital. I have three girls myself, and I could never imagine treating any of them like that. My older two girls were my ex-wife's from a previous marriage, and their bio-dad was still in the picture.
I didn't like the guy much at all, I thought he was a real jackass. But I never said a word against him in front of the girls and I even spent a lot of time "covering" for him because he was such a jackass. I remember when my oldest had her 13th birthday party - I paid for everything and wonder dad brought the cake. Well it was her first "boy girl" party and she had invited some boys from her school she liked.
So superdad shows up with the cake, turns out he thought it would be a great idea to have one of those cakes made where they use a computer to scan a photograph and put it on the frosting. The jackass took the most embarrassing baby pictures of her he could find and put them on the cake. She was mortified.
Fortunately Stepdad is a clumsy bastard and tripped when he set the cake on the counter, pretty much making the top of the cake unrecognizable in his clumsiness.
It just amazes me how fucking clueless some idiots can be in this regard.

Well my oldest was always a daddies girl, and her bio dad was just such a fucking idiot. He really messed her up.
But the good news is she's starting to get over it now, she's grown up a lot over the last few years. Sad thing is for a while the more I tried to do for her the more I think it just reminded her of how little effort her bio-dad put forth on her behalf. As a result I think for a while at least I was just a constant reminder of what a jackass he was, and my oldest and I had more than a few problems as a result during her teenage years.
Pretty rocky going there for a while. Sometimes all you can do though is just hang on and ride it out.

i went to school with people like that. to give you an idea the most famous one is Austan Goolsbee. i could not belive he managed to become someone important. he was a real life Dr Sheldon Cooper when i knew him.
first time he was on TV after he became Somebody Important he was giving some press conference and my mom called all flustered "Gushie turn on the TV!!! Austan's on and hes still as much of a little douche as he ever was!"
and then she stopped short because she had jut admitted that she had thought some little boy i rode the bus with was a total douche and you dont say that about children and she doesnt talk like that.
i still tease her--- "Mom, you said Douche. Where'd you learn to talk like that?" But dayum! Austan was a whiny douche back then, and you know he never grew out of it. It was a weird situation. The more I tried to make up for the lack of her father the more she resented it because it just reminded her that her father was a jackass.
So it was just easier for her I think to blame me than it was to direct her anger at it's true source. I was an easy scapegoat, I mean little girls are supposed to love their fathers. No rule that says that such is true about your stepdad.
And of course when she was a teenager I was the one adult out of 4 (her mom, dad, and stepmother) who actually acted like a parent. I actually had the temerity to tell her no. I was more interested in being a parent than a friend. My ex was fine with this, it let her pretty much pawn all the discipline off on me and be the "cool mom".
It was pretty messed up all the way around, but I just did the best I could and tried to give the kid the best childhood I could under the circumstances.

When I was a youngster I bought a book that turned out to be the script for Blazing Saddles. Up until then I had no idea that it was a movie, or even who Mel Brooks was, and I certainly had no idea who Richard Pryor was. When I eventually saw the movie for the first time it was really weird cuz I had already read the script.
Anyway, there is a scene in Blazing Saddles where it is completely dark, but you hear Lilly asks Sheriff Bart: "is it twue what they say about your people? Then you hear a loud ZIP, and then Lilly sez: "It's Twue, It's Twue." Well, what was in the script that wasn't in the movie was Sheriff Bart saying: "Maam, I don't know if it is part of your master plan, but you are sucking my arm."

As much as California economics/politics annoy me, one of the things I like about Lakewood is although it's in LA County, it's more or less an honorary member of Orange County (which is right next door) in its approach to both civic government and fostering local business. Plus I think we have the only mall in America with both a two-story Target *and* a Costco.

when I drank a lot of beer in college we would always get a 6 pack of something good to numb our taste buds with and then drink cheap stuff. Generally worked well. one night someone was feeding us schlitz malt liquor as the cheap stuff and that did not go well. worst hangover I have ever had. ever.

they are bad too but that was the only time I have ever had schlitz. It was a party we were throwing. we got two kegs of moosehead and four of some cheap stuff. the guy in charge of getting the beer decided to get the schlitz and pocket a little extra for himself. we knew we had worked our way through the good stuff and into the cheap stuff, but had no idea what it was. of course we were way to drunk to even think to ask or care. Every muscle in my body ached until about 5 the next afternoon.

It was the cocaine era though. It always seemed that almost every player was freaking fired up on that shit back then.Plus all the "cookie cutter" stadiums opened around that time cutting down on the long ball and shifting the game to a small ball game. I hate to think what Murphy could have done in today's ball parks.

roberto i think i know at least one person who worked on advertising for John Carter. sadly, they dont get it. I suspect i know why it failed. i have been searching the internets for proof but either my google fu is weak or they are really making it hard for people to be able to easily look up the names of the team in a linkable way. I am pretty sure whoever is responsible for that turkey of a campaign is gonna have a hard time finding work for a while. but never fear! in Hollywood you can fail your way to the top.
