This is the breakdown by race of murdered victims versus the race of the killer taken from the FBI's 2009 statistics.
And it turns out that in general whites kill whites, blacks kill blacks, and 'others' kill 'others'. Which isn't all that surprising given how people tend to segregate themselves socially.
Cross-racial murder is surprisingly rare. So if you're a white murder murder victim, the odds are 84% that your killer was also white. And if you're a black victim, the odds go up to 90% that the killer was also black.But this doesn't fit the usual narratives and agendas so no one talks about it.

It says that blacks commit about the same absolute number of murders as whites even though the populations differ in size by a factor of around 7 (assuming that white hispanics are included with whites in this data).

I don't mind Adventure Time or Regular Show on Cartoon Network, but the rest of it is meh. I loved Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, but they cancelled it. Too bad, because it was pretty good.

I did, sweet Tammy. We are waiting for news, assume she is still in recovery. My main concern is whether they were able to do the implants today or if they found lymph node issues which would have precluded that. Still praying and hoping for the best. Tammy, I will never be able to express my gratitude for that. My bff (another good friend of Special K's) has a (lawyer) friend in NYC, a breast cancer survivor as well as a survivor of the South Tower on 9/11. When he told her, she ran right out and lit a candle at St. Peter's in lower Manhattan. The level of support and concern is truly humbling to me. Yep, Unforgiven the very first day it was ABC Family. I couldn't believe it. We don't have cable/satellite 'cause I'm sort of addicted to T.V. so that helps, although now that we have Netflix Streaming with the Wii there are still "issues".
The kids are enjoying homeschooling. It means that they get to do a lot of stuff that would be impossible on a normal school schedule. I'm a little worried about my 8th grader since she never has been very enthused by school. She likes to read, but not do anything with what she reads. I'm trying to make sure she gets a lot of different skills right now, cooking, piano, while figuring out how to motivate her to learn what she need to know scholastically.

My dad used to do math at the dinner table with us. When cutting a pie, we had to figure how many pi-radians made it seven equal pieces, crap like that. Usually with a heavy dose of bad puns. He also used to help us memorize poetry, particularly Robert Service and some cowboy stuff. I can still recite the entire Sam McGee poem from heart. I think it worked because of the peer (sibling) pressure to win, and also because it made us laugh out loud. Kids remember this stuff, and I learned more at that dinner table than at school, hands down.

ANd consider St. Johns in Annapolis for her college years-it's a strictly classical education based on reading ALL the great classics of Western Literature, from the Ancient Greeks all the way to the 1800's!!! They even have a Ptolemy stone to calculate the time/date/seasons for their math classes. I wish I had gone there, but we are looking into it for our son. Plus they play the Naval Academy in croquet. Besides reading she likes anime, sign language, playing piano (as long as it's songs from anime) and listening to music.
She does the other kid's spelling lessons so I figure she's learning that. I'm concerned about her science and language though because she's supposed to be doing independent work along with what the others are doing and prying any actual *finished* work out of her is very time and energy consuming for me.

Bioware has been sticking in the hints of gay characters for quite some time. The female cat lady in Knights of the Old Republic sort of danced around that she might be gay. Whatever, they stick it in the games and its pretty easy to shut that down. You know, just as long as you don't decide to go to brothel in Dragon Age 2 and pick the "female" elf.
And yeah, Shadowbroker is the best DLC. However all of them have references and connections in ME3. Of course then it shits the bed at the end, but up to that point its great.

Part of the problem is that she *only* wants to read modern YA fiction or manga. It has gotten her interested in Japanese as a language and some general Asian cooking, but I'm still trying to find ways to encourage her to read classics (although she does like Poe, Stoker, scaryish classics) and general non-fiction. I try to make sure that there are a lot of books around the house so she has options.
Oh, she likes Girl Geniusand a couple other webcomics now too. Can't reccomend Girl Genius highly enough.

Annapolis is a great town to live in. But it is the People's Republic of Maryland. It is a very frustrating place to live if you are conservative.
If you are into boating, Annapolis is about the best you will find outside of Florida's east coast.

308, Polli, find Japanese literature for her. The Master Puppeteer, by KAtherine Patterson is a Japanese mystery. There are several other books in the series as well. That may be a good start for her. You might also get her to study Japanese history, and show how that ties into US history.

Thanks for the encouragement on the student front. I don't want to put her back in public school because she won't do any better there (and won't be able to do a lot of the stuff she can now)but it is a good reminder that if she was late to reading the same may be true of other skills.

to show our support for Trayvon Martin
The Controversy
On February 26, 2012, 17 year-old Trayvon, dressed in a
dark, hooded sweatshirt, was shot near his home located in a gated community in
Florida. The gunman, 28 year-old George Zimmerman, a self-appointed
neighborhood watchman, felt Trayvon looked suspicious. Officers told Zimmerman
not to shoot; he ignored those orders and murdered an innocent young man. To
date, Zimmerman has not been arrested for murder based on Florida's
"Justifiable Use of Force" statute, commonly referred to as the
"Stand Your Ground" self-defense law.
The Law
In Florida, the law permits residents to use deadly force if
they "reasonably [believe] it is necessary to do so to prevent death or
great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission
of a forcible felony." Florida Stat. §776.013(3) 2006.
26 other states have enacted similar statutes which stem
from the Castle Doctrine and 16 allow force in public places.

I mean, I can understand Al Sharpton and the New Black Panthers believing that, or wanting to believe it. It makes sense for them to push that story. It doesn't make sense for white men and women to engage in logical contortions, blatant misstatements of fact, and aggressive argument in order to make Zimmerman guilty, and by proxy all white Americans everywhere. I don't get it.

The Ultima series was a bit weirder to be honest. In Ultima 3, you could be an "other" gender (which led Spoon to quip "in what other game could you play as a transsexual Ewok jester?). In Ultima 7, you could have male prostitutes "service" your male character at Buccaneer's Den. These games were from the late 80's, early 90's IIRC.

I only loathe Gay Shep because if it's done like Dragon Age 2 I'm concerned it will be "pushed" upon you again no matter how hetero you play your character. Choices don't seem to matter when they want to make a political point.

That really sucks. Went through that quite a few nights with my daughter. Put sleeping-bags down on the floor of the bathroom. Turned the hot water on and let it run till the hot water ran out. Then took her back to bed with me. Of course we both drenched, but at least she breathed better. Did stop me sleeping on those nights though. I hope your baby feels better, and you too.

Soak a wool sock with vinegar, ring out the sock real well so it's damp but not drippingand warm the sock. Warm, not hot. Place around the little one's neck and secure with a safety pin. We used white vinegar and I've heard others use apple cider vinegar.

Now, the number of minority voters disappointed with Obama will be a factor, and probably cost him 2pts in states like Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Michigan. For Example:
+Mandate live births through a total ban on abortion and birth control so that more consumers are created to engage in commerce. Also, makes the whole "force churches to by condoms" thing irrelevant.
+Mandatory national gun ownership from birth. Since the purchase of guns is interstate and everyone will experience crime during their life. Should be no problem with liberals.
+Marriage by age 21. Everyone. Divorce banned. Single households drain more resources from the economy influencing interstate commerce. Surely, a government that can compel you to sign a contract with a private company can manage to force you to exchange vows with a private individual. Plus it is good for the environment. Gay marriage is out (doesn't produce consumers) see above.
Let's start lining these laws up. Maybe the left side of the political spectrum will suddenly get a clue on what's not to like with the individual mandate. Hell, they can even hold protests on wall street with big paper mache' head puppets, hold people's committees, and down twinkle the mandate. We might even let them claim credit when its declared unconstitutional.

This was before all the BS "incorporation" crap came along. Originally that was done to overcome incredibly bad State laws on free speech. A lot of States still had malicious sedition and libel laws that the politicians used to silence newspapers who printed stories about corruption.
There's an old saw, bad laws make bad cases. That is what started the modern decline.

Figure 19, shows that most murders are intraracial as you link above but...
The felony murder stats from 1980-2008 are here. On table 7, you'll see that 59.9% of all felony murders are committed by blacks and 53.1% of the victims are white but only 38% of the offenders. That tells a different story where 15% of all white victims must be killed by blacks or others.
Table 2, 15% of all murderers are under 18, 73% are 18-34. Figure 23b is the big one, though, when discussing racial profiling. This, Page 16, is what no one wants to discuss.
Young black males make up 1% of the population but account for 27% of all murders. To use Barack's language, they are punching above their weight!
So was Trayvon racially profiled? Probably. Should he have been? Probably. His age and demographic statistic makes one think that, yea, he has potential.

After a few years of LBJ in which black women were paid to have illegitimate children and live alone the illegitimate birth rate exploded. And with that the crime, high school dropout rate, and general bad news exploded.
Initially whites were not effected but even that has dropped by the wayside now as more white teeagers see delivering babies as a means of getting their own government subsidized homes away from controlling parents.

Blacks commit 14 times more crimes against whites per capita. Whites are a little less than seven times more populace than blacks but blacks commit more than twice as many black on white crimes as vice versa. duh.
In general blacks commit WAY MORE crimes per capita than any other ethnic group. Own it.

I see something similar. If white murders were "color blind", about 12% of their victims would be black. It's less than that, so this is another area where blacks are given FAVORABLE treatment by whites (white murderers, anyway!).
In contrast, if black murderers were "color blind", only about 12% of their victims would be black, yet it's over 80%, so that implies racism.
Realistically, though, most murder victims areprobably spouses, ex-spouses, or close relatives and associatesof the perp, most of whom would usuallybe of the same race.
