Democratic Party Office in Florida Flies Defaced American Flag With Obama's Face Replacing the Stars
Maybe we can call this the 57th Star Flag.
Nancy Hurlburt, the Democratic Party Chair for Lake County, said she would research the issue but didn’t take the Obama flag down immediately, prompting Van Beck to declare that they would take the flag down for her. “No, you will not. This is private property,” Hurlbert responded.Ironic, that she would talk of private property and rights while standing beneath this abomination of a flag. She eventually relented.

I think they're wrong. Citing the code, and believing the Dems are in violation of it, does not actually mean they're breaking the law.
If it had, at one time, been an actual American Flag over the field of which they'd sewn the picture of their cult-head, I'd agree with you completely- it would have been defacing the flag. In this case, it was a custom created "flag" that is not the American Flag, no matter how much it borrows from the imagery.
I'm not a lawyer, and I didn't even stay in a Holiday Inn last night, but I certainly wouldn't be counting on a conviction if I had to take it to court.
They took it down because the "research" the idiot did was to call her higher-ups in the Dem party and wail for help- at which point one of them finally had the brains to say, "No, take it down. Do you aspire to stupid?"

more government the solution? 50% of all healthcare dollars spent in the US by US citizens before 2009 came from government programs. If the system was 'broken,' why again is the answer more government? Why wasn't the governments own system part of the problem? If a person was forced to give away his output, how much care will he employ? If bureaucrats are to determine all care, will your friends be ok with seeing a loved one die a horrible death even though they would have been able to pay for treatment not approved by Obamacare?
Et cetera. Ask questions and don't let up. Force them to come to the ultimate conclusions about their favored 'solutions.' Why do they all lead to a bigger, more corrupt, less responsive government? Why is big business bad but big government an unmitigated good?
If they stutter or can't give a reasonable reply, then ask them to read something from the conservative bullpen. Taxes -> Freidman. Healthcare -> Avik Roy. Economics -> Sowell. Ad infinitum.

If the friendship isn't that important and you must engage, start with clarity, a la Prager. If they like to just cough up snark it's not going to work, but if they truly want a debate then make them be clear. Have them restate the premises of the Left.
Ask questions and don't let up. Force them to come to the ultimate conclusions about their favored 'solutions.'
If they stutter or can't give a reasonable reply, then ask them to read something from the conservative bullpen.
Two more thingd to add:
1. Force consistency in their position ... no skipping steps in logical arguments, require credible links, no tangents or related-topic points ... you'll get run in circles.
2. Do not buy off on Leftist experts or educational credentials.
-Billy Ayres has a PhD in ... Education. This is legally admissable proof that he graduated from high school.
-Paul Krugman:his turtleneck and tweed jacked make him no less of a dolt; he's more often wrong than hit, much like Paul Erlich.
-EVERY MSM newscaster /journalist / reporter is.., a J-school product or an RTF major ... this is all high-school-level material, and most high school debters are sharper than the fools you see on TV or read in the NYT ...
- The average educational level of Hollywood types, actors directors, is ... a couple of years of college ... maybe? Sean Penn's most famous role is ... himself, dude. Arec Bardwin is most famous for ... being a marionette? George Clooney: he's successful now,as his mother is way out of the picture (when she was young she defined "smokin'", "hawt", "smokin' hawt"). J. Cameron, of Avatard fame and community-college experience,used the plot of "Duck Dodgers in the 24-1/2 Century" (7 minutes) and used animation to get credible action ... "unobtanium"? how about learning to spell:Illudium Phosdex.
Make these points, as necessary. It keeps many Leftards quiet.

First off, talking politics is a surefire way to lose friends. Second, smacking rarely works even if deserved.

I'm trying not to be "that guy" who's just annoyingly bringing up politics, but looking through my past links, I already am. Many a link to VDH and other articles with political content criticizing the current status quo.

If I lose friends, it's for advocating worthwhile ideas and causes. Those who know me aren't going to have the excuse of saying, "We didn't know anything was wrong!".

Most of the others were imitations of the Union colours and symbols. They're all like this flag everyone's lambasting, to one degree of another.
And *all* the Confederate flags represent a rebellion of secession. If they had won, their stars would leave the field of blue. (Assuming that the North wanted a lasting peace, that is.) Showing respect to a flag designed for a rebel is incompatible with respect to the flag against which that rebel fights.

Worthwhile implies a desire for success at some point. My only limited point is that the the overt methods rarely work, sending links, replying to sloppy socialist drivel, refuting stuff, etc. (That kind of stuff should be aimed at the media and partisan hacks all you want. Oh, bull. The Texas state flag has a white star on a field of blue. It's red, white and blue. I see it and think Texas, not Texans are disrespecting the American flag. Alright, Professor,tell us where in 1860 the Constitution of the United States says that a state cannot secede? It doesn't. The Constitution granted the Federal government certain rights but the question of secession was NOT one of them so those rights are retained by the states. I know it doesn't seem like it but the Federal government does not own us. They are there to work for the people not start a war with us. And by the way this country was started by a "rebellion of secession" from the British. If you had lived back then you would have sided with British.
