Happy Tuesday.

Former IMF head Dominic Strauss-Kahn was arrested in France in connection with sex parties in Washington and Paris involving prostitutes. I can't decide whether this tweet from a Guardian reporter is accurate or not: "Lawyer for Dominique Strauss-Kahn, dirtbag: 'I challenge you to distinguish a naked prostitute from any other naked woman.'" Politifact rates it: "Sounds true, and that's good enough for us."

I haven't really been following the Heartland Institute's leaked document story, but it's time to get some popcorn and catch up. Andy summarizes it thusly "The global warmists couldn't get their own Climategate so they had to manufacture one. Now it has blown up in their faces and will be covered on page A364 of the New York Times." I expect legal action will be forthcoming.

Russian scientists have "regenerated" an ice-age plant from seeds frozen in permafrost for 30,000 years. The plant hasn't eaten anyone. Yet.

A new wave of Koran rage is starting in Afghanistan, as the NATO commander, Gen. John R. Allen, apologizes for improper disposal of Korans by NATO troops.

8 BB an update from the ONT

Good Morning Morons. Drinking my morning coffee and getting ready for SS

and S. I figured I would give y'all a quick update before leaving this

morning and say I appreciate all the words of support from the Morons.

The

cardiologist has pretty much written off the heart attacks as a

non-event or so minor that it didn't matter. The plan on transferring

her out of the cardiac unit some time today. However they did do surgery

yesterday to install a trach tube for breathing. While they were

installing that they took samples of the mass in her throat and the

surgeon has given an initial diagnosis of Thyroid cancer, however the

biopsy report is NOT back yet so that is not official.

Current

plans are that there will be no more surgery. They plan on shrinking the

mass via radiation therapy and possibly chemo if it has spread outside

of the "regrowing" thyroid. The mass is of such size and location that

it is not possible to remove it via surgery.

They have installed

a little gizmo on the trach tube that allows her to talk. They will be

holding a class this morning to teach us both how to clean it and

maintain it.

And that's where we are at right now.

Wife had to be transported to the ER Sat night because she could not breath.

40 That koran story makes me want to puke.

When the Jordanians occupied part of Jerusalem between 1948 and 1967, they desecrated Jewish cemeteries (they dug latrines in them and used the headstones to build them) and destroyed many synagogues.

Apparently it's perfectly okay for Muslims to demonstrate contempt for Western religions, but it is a catastrophe when an American soldier sneezes near a mosque.

Still more proof that the Brits are more boned than us, but it's a race we can still win with the wise leadership of the JEF. Muslim hate teachings from behind bars to the world:

Britain's most dangerous Islamic terrorists are exploiting a security loophole to spread their message of hate from behind bars.

Not only have they been able to radicalise fellow inmates, they have also appealed to a new generation of supporters around the world.

Dozens of unrepentant extremists have been exposed as glorying in their fanaticism and encouraging others to consider further atrocities.

In fact, the structure took a total of thirty-six years to finish. Construction took place in two major phases, 1848-1856, and 1876-1884. The Civil War and a lack of funds caused the big delay.

A marker has been placed down on the next set of races:

Romney will win Michigan and Arizona, and go on to a strong Super Tuesday showing and the nomination. MSM plus a few anti-Romneys among the conservative media can try and drive a message of impending doom, but it just isn't there, and Romney overtaking Santorum in Michigan will be, like the victory in Florida, the latest and the last of the Romney of the MSM-generated "tests" of the likely GOP nominee.

The Kos Kids and the UAW will try and bleed Romney by voting for Santorum in Michigan's "open" primary, but the GOP base knows much more than the MSM gives it credit for and knows the Chicago gang and its allies are trying to bleed their strongest general election nominee. Many will vote for Rick Santorum on principle, but the idea that Romney is fatally wounded by a loss in Michigan is just as absurd as some from-the-sidelines "new" candidate emerging.

Hugh Hewitt February 20, 2012

So, Mitt will win Michigan, but just in case he doesn't -- no big whoop.

Also, apparently primaries are only MSM "tests", not an actual method of selecting a party's nominee.

Mental-illness claims, in particular, are surging.
During the
recent economic boom, only 33 percent of applicants were claiming mental
illness, but that figure has jumped to 43 percent, says Rutledge,
citing preliminary results from his latest research.
His research
also shows a growing number of men, particularly older, former
white-collar workers, instead of the typical blue-collar ones, are
applying.
The big concern about the swelling ranks is that once
people get on disability, they’re unlikely to give it up and go back to
work.

Each cloud of smoke is heavily analyzed for clues of what the delegates are thinking.

The first cloud is white, and smells like pot -- ooh, Ron Paul got some votes there.

The second cloud has a tinge of orange -- some lunatic musta voted for Charlie Crist!

The third cloud is a real fat one -- lots of Christie votes that time

The fourth cloud is quite shapely -- Sarah Palin is giving it a run!

The fifth cloud is full of sleeping gas -- someone must of suggested T-Paw again

Folks, this could go on forever.....wait, here comes a solid black cloud......looks like Allen West is the unanimous pick. Obama better put on his asbestos undies cuz Colonel West is fixing to roast his ass.

91 ROME — Holy Father, meet my mother.
Capping a whirlwind nine-day trip with a final visit to the Vatican, Timothy Cardinal Dolan introduced his 84-year-old mom to Pope Benedict XVI yesterday — then jokingly asked the pontiff if he could make her “the first lady of the College of Cardinals.”
Amid cheers and applause, Dolan walked his mom, Shirley, up to the stage to greet his boss during a papal audience before an enthusiastic crowd inside the Paul VI Hall.
“Holy Father, here is my mom!” Dolan said he told the pope.
Unable to resist the temptation to make a joke, Dolan, 62, pointed out that he’s one of the few princes of the church young enough and lucky enough to still have his mother alive.

“I asked him if he would declare her the first lady of the College of Cardinals,” he said.
Dolan recounted that the pope, who turns 85 in April, then paid his mom the ultimate compliment, telling her, “You look too young to be the mother of a cardinal.”
The cardinal said his mom — showing that a quick wit is a family trait — shot back, “Holy Father, was that an infallible statement?

Good for her and quick on her feet also

"It really should shake the core of every Christian to realize that Bibles are being burned," said Carl Moeller President of Open Doors USA in an interview with Mission Network News monitored Friday, May 22, by Worthy News....However military analyst and Pentagon adviser, Lt. Col. Robert Maginnis, criticized the move. "There is no need to burn the Bibles. They could have been shipped back," he said. "Just imagine if we, the same the United States military, were to take a bunch of Korans and burn them. I can imagine the ramifications across the world."....The irony and ignorance...

95 To recap:

Emails of AGW nitwits indicate wide-ranging deception and quashing of, not "alternative opinions", but actual science.

Meanwhile, the fabricated Heartland memo can't even manage to cobble together a believable lie.

And oh yes, no warming for the past decade and a half.

Are we about done here?

>>"Teachers should be disuaded from teaching science"

I'm sure the dozen or so American "science teachers" who still teach science instead of warmenist propaganda will ignore them.

>>Mental-illness claims, in particular, are surging.

Nice of them to classify conservatism as a mental illness, isn't it? If I get laid off I'll never have to work again!

>>When I was a kid there were no buses and ALL elementary schools were in walking distance of every neighborhood.

When I was kid, only the farm kids got to ride the bus. They wouldn't let me ride a bus 3/4 mi from the elementary school to the high school two blocks from my house on days it was raining/snowing, even though a dozen buses stopped there to pick up kids. You could only get off at a farm. It was an OK walk in the spring and fall but when it was 30F and sleeting it sucked (I usually went to my grandparents on those days; they were two blocks away and my dad could pick me up on his way home from work. Spoiled, I was.) . Now 0.3 mi is too far to expect kids to walk to a bus stop; they stop every 50 feet in my subdivision instead of making one stop at the entrance. Then they waste classroom time on "anti-obesity programs" and never learn to do math. Ho-hum.

And wrt to the "sons on helicopters" from yesterday's open threads, the controller I'm working on today will go into a helicopter drone. It's a modification of an existing model but the crew compartment will be filled with fuel and surveillance equipment for long, dull missions. Kind of interesting; wish I understood more than software.

104 When we hear politicians say stuff, let's try to put it into perspective.

Can the President outlaw contraceptives? No.

Can the President ban all abortions? No.

Etc., etc.

Yes, a total ban on contraceptives could occur in theory, but it would have to be passed by Congress first. Never gonna happen.

Point is, if Santorum wants to criticize contraception, let him. The criticism I see is that these are stupid things to say, but some of it is a fear the he might actually do some of this stuff if he's elected. Come on. It will never happen.

Once again someone with an ax to grind about a fantasy theory with no evidence makes up a document that says just the right things to prove the conspiracy. Someone should ask Dan Rather to validate it. How long until reputed science ethicist Peter Gleick reveals he got the fake document from that dastardly Lucy Ramirez? Cue up "Fake But Accurate".

Unfortunately, beyond a small circle of folks this attempt at retribution for the un-fake climategate emails will not be ridiculed for the dick move it is. Too technical.

This ^^.

Unk, after my colonoscopy, I woke on a gurney moving right fast through strange halls.

I asked where I was going and was told surgery.

Why?

Colon cancer.

My attitude was if I survive, I'll have to worry about.

If I do not survive, I'll have nothing to worry about.

When I shared this notion with my family, they did not find the humor I intended. Their concern was understandable. But it was my effn cancer. I was going to kill it, or it was going to kill me. Five years out, no worries.

The morphine drip was heavenly. Stuff still hurt, but I did not care.

My prayers are with you, GrumpyUnk
