Ace: Hey, Marco Rubio, Did You Hear About This New Ellmers-Etheridge Poll?
Marco Rubio: No, What's It Say?
Ace: It Says Bob Etheridge Is Gonna Be Choking Strangers As A Private Citizen

Bob-Etheridge-Please-feel-free-to-Lip-Strangle-My-Penis-Neck.jpg

So what's the poll say? I don't know! Either NRO is crashing or my stupid internet isn't working as usual. But I hear good things.

Update: The poll is behind a firewall but Drew tips me to the headline:

Civitas Poll: Ellmers Leads Etheridge Heading into Final Weekend

In other news: Remember Jacob Turk, challenging that Cleaver guy in MO-5? No confirmation yet but this blogger says it was reported on the radio that Turk's ahead, or MoE. Or something. Obviously, details are sketchy

PPP calls the WI-8 a bellwether for the country, since neither candidate is very well known there -- so it's up or down on Obama, mostly.

Reid Ribble is ahead of Steve Kagen-- and that's good, not just because Reid Ribble is a good conservative, but because it's really fun to say Republican Representative Reid Ribble. Try it!

So if voters don't really know or care much about either of these candidates, what's driving their voting decisions? We found there was an enormous correlation between how voters in the district felt about Barack Obama and how they planned to vote in the House race. With voters who approve of Obama, Kagen leads 74-5. With voters who don't approve of Obama Ribble's ahead 70-9.

The problem for Kagen is that despite the fact that Obama won the district by 9 points in 2008, his approval rating there now is a 42/54 spread. So if the race ends up being a referendum on Obama he's going to lose. And there are dozens of other districts across the country where voters really know nothing about the candidates and are going to vote for the House based on their feelings about the President- for the most part that's going to be bad news for Democrats.

Charles Lollar (threatening Steny Hoyer in MD-5) is of course having his signs destroyed by hyperpartisan liberals and union stooges. I'm reprinting his letter in full below -- put up a sign if you're in the district. Hell, put up a sign if you're not in the district but on a well-traveled thoroughfare that might have drivers from MD-5.

last ditch effort to silence our message, they have begun stealing and destroying our signs. While some level of vandalism occurs in every election, we have experienced losses far beyond the norm. On some sections of highway, all of our larger signs were removed or destroyed. In some cases they were literally cut the post off with a saw. In fact, we now have reason to believe that a bounty is being paid for the removal or destruction of our signs.

Some on the other side might think that these cowardly, criminal acts will be enough to stop us, but they are wrong. They have underestimated this campaign and, more importantly, they have underestimated you. Together we are going to remind them why darkness always retreats from the light, and justice always prevails in the end.

In response to these criminal acts I have ordered thousands of replacement yard signs. While this action will place a financial burden on this campaign, I am determined to resist the efforts by those who want to censor our voices. Come this November the citizens of our district will have a choice, no matter what the cost. Unfortunately I cannot succeed in this effort alone. I am going to need your help.

The new signs will arrive this weekend, far too late for my volunteers to deliver before Tuesday's election. We are going to need a little help, and this is where you come in.

If you are willing to help, I will need you to do 3 simple things:

1 - Please call my campaign office at 301-358-6264, between the hours of 10:00 am and 8:00 pm.

2 - Tell them that you are calling to RSVP for one of the new replacement yard signs. (They will record your contact information.)

3 - Then on Saturday, October 30th, go down to one of three special locations, pick up your new sign and plant it in your front yard for all the world to see.

That's it, simple as 1-2-3. But If you will agree to do these 3 simple things then you will help deliver our message and shine a bright light in dark places.

We have come too far to let anyone stop us now. With the victory so close at hand we will not be deterred. Under the cover of night they destroyed dozens of our signs. In the light of day we will replace them by the thousands.

I hope that you will choose to help. Together we will literally create a "New Day for Maryland."

Charles Lollar
Candidate for Maryland's
5th Congressional District

But this is what the Left does. They lie and exaggerate because they're shameless and unaccountable. (They claim a person was 'stomped' yet she has no injuries.)

But on 11/2, the Left will be held accountable.

And all these lies about racism and stomping will hurt the Left.

10 Someone has an Ellmers sign in my neighborhood. The only one I've seen so far.

I take my son with me whenever I vote since the polling station is at his elementary school. I like to write in his name for one of the local elections just to embarrass him into thinking he could "win" and then have to start actually doing the job of a councilman. He's only 8, but he said he could do a far better job than they could.

Of course O was just playing to Stewart's audience of brain-dead Stalinistas. Apparently it didn't occur to him that his remarks would be reported to other, less sympathetic audiences.

70 ACE - I know this story isn't about Alaska, but I have noticed that in our local papers, we are being inundated by outside commenters. The Frontiersman, the local paper in the Valley (about 40 miles from Anchorage - where Murkowski places the blame for Joe Miller winning the primary) has had almost all of their comments hijacked by outsiders trying to push people to vote for McAdams, the Democrat. The Anchorage Daily News has been in Murkowski's pocket for years, but I am noticing the same in their comments too. The commenters on the Frontiersman are just stupid enough to put 'Jim in the Lower 48', and start the comments, 'You people up north...'.
I no longer believe any polls taken in this great state, and I believe that some leftist group is encouraging this. I mean, they are even using the 'driving a car into a ditch' analogy, and when I called the guy out he claims that he has been using that phrase long before the White House. Ha!
So if there are any other Alaskans on here - get out and VOTE!

101 Went looking for the "what's your name boy?" video and couldn't find
(kept getting video not found and 503 messages) it but it is apropos to
this subject: "Etheridge is guilty of criminal assault under
Washington D.C. law. DC
Criminal Code §22-404(a)(1) dictates, “Whoever unlawfully assaults, or
threatens another in a menacing manner, shall be fined not more than
$1,000 or be imprisoned not more than 180 days, or both.” Generally,
assault requires four elements: (1) ability to carry out a threat (i.e.
Stephen Hawking threatening you with a personal kick to the jaw would
probably not constitute assault); (2) an unlawful attempt (the perp
actually has to try to do something); (3) to commit a violent injury;
(4) upon someone else (you can’t assault yourself – duh)." link

And
speaking of assault, have you guys thought about your reaction when, on
election day, some thug tries to intimidate some "sweet little old
broad" into not going into some polling place and casting her vote only
to find out that the "sweet little old broad" likes to give martial arts
instruction on the fly?

I'll take the single digits. That would indicate progress, which we've been told wasn't happening. As for her polling, I agree that there is a great incentive to make her look good. But as I had noted yesterday, the TPE polled the primary very accurately. If their methodology held true, then there is something here. And! want for there to be something.

109 #101 Science really has morphed into quackery if they honestly think your political views are genetic.

Or liberalism is really a mental/genetic disorder. .

I don't buy the premise either. If political preference had a genetic component (it may, but I don't think it does), it would involve more than one gene methinks. And check out this premise:

"They hypothesized that individuals with a genetic predisposition toward
seeking out new experiences would tend to be more liberal."

Look at the meme. Conservative = boring and close-minded while liberal = fun and open-minded. It's a crappy hypothesis.

Postmarked on the 2nd. It takes forever to count the votes here plus military voters have an additional 2 weeks to get their ballot in because the sec of state was late getting them their ballots. If it's close we won't know for 3 or 4 weeks who won.

. A single port-a-potty for every 300 guestsWhile 150,000 people are expected to attend the event, organizers have secured only 508 port-a-potties, reports The Washington Post, or roughly one portable john for every 300 attendees. One of the comfort stations, donated by CNN's Larry King, will reportedly
be marked off as the "Larry King Port-a-Potty." Comedy Central had
originally wanted to share portable restrooms with the Marine Corps
Marathon, which takes place in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, but was politely rebuffed. The 100 toilets the Marines have set up around the National Mall will be padlocked on Saturday.

The attendees will probably have a private one assigned to them.

This thing is going to bomb on a Halloween weekend the kids will have way to many real parties to attend.

chorus:

I took the underground Back to Pelosi's Den
I felt a little like a dying clown
With a streak that's going to end

I stretched back and I hiccupped
And looked back on my busy year
Four years in Pelosi's Den
God, how can I keep my butt here?
Hoo ahr yooo?
Ooh wa ooh wa ooh wa ooh wa ...

Hoo ahr yooo?
Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo?

Hoo ahr yooo?

Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo?
Hoo ahr yooo?

Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo?
Hoo ahr yooo?

Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo?

I know there's a place I've walked
Where bribes flow wild and free
My career is just a big cock-up
I only feel right off of TV

I put out like a fevered whore
Yet still receive your votes
How can I get this sweet job backDo I have to give out C-notes?

The Arrival was teh suck - global warming crapfest, although I liked Ron Silver's performance in it.

Sheen's best performance were in the Hot Shots! movies.

This week's abortion preaching was a bit much for my taste as well. You know, I don't really mind if the guys have to torture a Mayan to get information on who they need to kill to eliminate competition for their gun running, porn, and drug enterprises but that abortion bit rubbed me the wrong way.

167 The sad thing is that he's really pretty funny. Hot Shots was pure comedy gold. Even Two-and-a-Half Men had (has? is it still on?) its moments.
He's extremely talented so it's sad and also disturbing because he really REALLY has issues... I mean 'lock you up and drug your ass for a month' issues. I can't watch him anymore without feeling the need for a shower and penance.

174 Well, I think I may have successfully talked one of my co-workers into voting for Rossi yesterday. She told me she didn't want to vote for him because of his positions on women's issues, but she was definitely against Murray's economic policies. I kind of snorted and said "Honestly, I don't give a rat's ass about any of that crap right now. For me this election is about getting government spending under control. This election is about the economy and jobs. In 2004, the main issue for me was national security. Our economy is a national security issue." She nodded and said "I know a lot of people think the Tea Party people are stupid, but I kind of agree with them." I said "Yeah, they're absolutely right on limiting government and government spending."
I asked her if she watched the Rossi/Murray debate. She hadn't. I told her that the only thing she needed to know that when asked if she had read the entire 2600 pages of the health care bill, Patty Murray said "Not only did I read all of it, I helped write it." My friendis vehemently against the health care reform--as most informed medical field people are. Unfortunately, a lot of the nurses and ancillary staff are unionized--SEIU.
My friend is a perfusionist (runs the heart/lung machine) and makes really good money. So she knows she gets screwed with all the taxation. I told her people have no idea what's coming, and that January they will see with the Bush tax cuts expiring. I told her Democrats cannot be trusted with anything and she needs to vote for Rossi. By the end of the conversation, I think I had her convinced.

Yeah, your vote wouldn't matter. Baghdad Jim enjoys re-election numbers on a scale of Castro, Chavez and Sadaam. That other dude sounded more unhinged than Jim (made him look downright moderate!)One of myconservative friends who lives on Capitol Hill didn't vote for either of them. He left that blank. I told him the most important stuff to vote on were "no" on the income tax, "no" on the increase in sales tax, and Rossi.

Posted by: runningrn at October 28, 2010 02:12 PM (qY2Vc)

177 Although I live in a really remote area of Michigan (Upper Peninsula) where we have virtually no crime, the RNC up here is constantly having all of their signs stolen. As I say, we never have crime, so this is unusual. The only explanation is that this is the former Bart Stupak seat, and the DNC has been pouring money into this race. In spite of that, I am very hopeful that Dan Benishek will win. He actually won the primary by a vote, though, so that shows how important it is that we all vote.

184 Elmers leads Etheridge 49-40 among likelies! Quote from Civitas:

Raleigh, N.C. – Democratic incumbent Congressman Bob
Etheridge’s electoral future appears to be in jeopardy as he trails
Republican challenger Renee Ellmers by 5 percentage points with less
than one week until the election.

According to the poll of 400 registered voters in North Carolina’s
2nd Congressional District, Ellmers leads Etheridge 46 percent to 41
percent. Libertarian candidate Tom Rose garners 6 percent of the vote
while 7 percent of voters are undecided.

Among voters who say they are definitely voting this year, Ellmers’ lead grows to 49 percent to 40 percent.

185 Charles Lollar (threatening Steny Hoyer in MD-5) is of course having his signs destroyed by hyperpartisan liberals and union stooges.

This is happening all over Maryland, to both sides. I live in Baltimore County, and it started in earnest about ... 4 weeks ago. D & R signs are being slashed, cut down, torn apart, etc.

I'm not happy about it at all. I'm voting completely anti-incumbent next week, which in Maryland means against the Dems. But I am absolutely against seeing their signage being destroyed.

Vandalism isn't the answer. It only engenders sympathy for the victim.
