This is just my ignorant opinion but since 9-11 the leadership in this country has bent over backward to defend the "religion of peace" when in reality, for a muslim to truly believe in peace, they have to be secular.  If they 'religiously' believe the teachings of the Koran, they want you converted - or failing that, dead. 

Why is it so hard for Muslims to condemn violence against just about anyone?  It's because to do so is heretical.

The argument is often made that for every "violent' verse in the Koran there is a peaceful one.  This is true. 

Then why don't they choose?  It can't be done.  Not in a religious context.  Think about it.

When one's eternal life is put on a scale and weighed by a impulsive, impetuous god who, even if the scale tips in your favor, can still send you to hell.  When the only way you can be assured of entrance into paradise is to murder unbelievers or to die as a martyr - how likely is it that the actions of one who follow this path will be condemned - even by the secular?

When I visited Arlington National Cemetery last year, I viewed the section where the heroes of Iraq and Afghanistan are buried. There, I saw headstones with all kinds of markings: for Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, and some with nothing at all. And a few have the crescent-and-star of Islam.

Unfortunately in this case, I believe this is mistaken.  The states do not typically have jurisdiction over what takes place on a federal enclave such as a military base, unless there is a specific agreement between the state in question and the US government as to a particular enclave (which is not common). 

When what one typically thinks of as "state law" crimes occur in federal enclaves, they are prosecuted by the feds, in federal court, adopting the state law of the forum state under the Federal Assimilative Crimes Act.  A couple of JAG officers I've known have done this by being temporarily deputized as Special Assistant US Attorneys, but this was for misdemeanors committed on base by civilians.  Hopefully this is all left to the military justice system and in no way taken over by DOJ.

This is a totally inaccurate metaphor/comparison. It is absurd to talk about Christianity and Islam as if they are morally equivalent. Quit looking at the way individual, fallen sinners in the Church may have acted, and look at the MODEL, Jesus Christ. Since all human beings in all religions fail to live perfectly up to the standards of their respective religions, the key thing is to look at the religions themselves, i.e., what is the MODEL they hold up for human behavior.

There is simply no comparison. Jesus never harmed another human being, and sacrificed his own life to save others.
