| CBO Scores Republican Plan: Costs a Mere $61 Billion, Cuts $68 Billion from Deficit, Reduces Premiums Up to Ten Percent![]() Flaming skull worthy? I think it damnwell is. The CBO put the price tag for the GOP plan at $61 billion, a fraction of the $1.05 trillion cost estimate it gave to the House bill that lawmakers are set to vote on this weekend. And the CBO found that the Republican provision to reform medical malpractice liability would result in $41 billion in savings and increase revenues by $13 billion by reducing the cost of private health insurance plans. … According to CBO, the GOP bill would indeed lower costs, particularly for small businesses that have trouble finding affordable health care policies for their employees. The report found rates would drop by seven to 10 percent for this group, and by five to eight percent for the individual market, where it can also be difficult to find affordable policies. The GOP plan would have the smallest economic impact on the large group market that serves people working for large businesses that have access to the cheapest coverage. Those premiums would decline by zero to 3 percent, the CBO said. That small reduction still accrues to those already with the cheapest insurance, of course, and those who already have it through their employers. And the Democratic plan? Premiums will go up, taxes will go up, we all know that. He says we're trying to make them go up less than they would, but they're still going up. He asks you to accept that there is no competing plan on the table that makes them actually go down. But there is. Comments1
Palin said this plan would be good, and she was right!

Think about what those fucking Democrats tried to do... Think about it until you get it... They tried to force through a plan to nationalize the healthcare industry purposely before any could figure out what they were doing, before anyone had any time to question it. Those assholes knew that all they were doing was creating more fucking bureaucracy for their "constituents" and had absolutely no care in the world for what would happen. And the media, which was a branch of the DNC, they purposely misled, purposely created programming to mislead and purposely acted as public relations and communications officers for the DNC to pass this shit. Unfuckingbelievable. And there's Newt Gingrich...sliding around on his fat ass sucking up to those cocksuckers. The homey idiot Lindsay Graham, playing kissy face with fascists. What the fuck. And, it probably covers more of the eleventy billion people who currently don't have coverage than the Donk plan does. BUT! (This is important, so pay attention, please): The Republican plan does not forever enshrine abortion as a federal entitlement, WHICH IS WHAT THIS ENTIRE EXERCISE BY THE DEMS IS ALL ABOUT. Sorry about the caps, but it's about time that we focused on what's really going on here. The Donk plan is a fiscal disaster, barely covers more uninsured, ruins health care for the entire country, and guarantees that they'll lose the House and Senate in 2010. So what could possibly be the motivation for passing it? Abortion, that's what. Nothing but abortion, the Most Important, Sacred Right Enshrined in The Constitution. Am I wrong? Sounds like a good bill at first glance but, it comes from the evil Republicans and not the generous Democrats. The "One" has not given his approval. No one outside the blogs will ever hear of it.
The propaganda media will not even mention this as a 15 second announcement. The liberal pundits will claim it is wrong for America. The DNC and the Obamabot will scream that it doesn't do enough The DNC will announce with authority that it’s all smoke and mirrors. The DNC will say it’s too little too late. The DNC will complain it is not progressive enough and leave too many out. The trail lawyers will claim it’s an insult to their clients and only good for the doctors. . The unions will oppose it, just because it is not part of their agenda. The unions because it doesn’t provide any bailouts. SEIU will oppose because it doesn’t increase their authority over everyone. ACORN supporters will oppose it because they can’t get any free money from it. The special interest groups will all have excuses for not supporting it. PETA because it doesn’t force everyone to giving up meat. Enviro’s because it doesn’t reduce pollution from all the cows. The race baiters will tell us it’s anti-black or anti-hispanic. CAIR will tell us that it doesn’t offer Islamic witchdoctors. RAZA will tell us it is anti-immigration.
Anybody got any more excuses to assist the Progressives in their campaign to ruin American health care?

And the Democratic plan? Premiums will go up, taxes will go up, we all know that. And medical advancement will come to a screeching halt - as just about all medical advancement is funded by the profit in our health care system, with the rest of the world drafting off of us. Since we are currently in a vaccine shortage for a federally declared "national emergency" of swine flu (along with a shortage of regular flu vaccine, too). a little blast from the past is in order: Hillary's Vaccine ShortageBy The Wall Street Journal August 15, 2003 Everyone knows America's vaccine industry is in serious trouble, with an ever dwindling number of producers and recent severe vaccine shortages. What everyone also should know is that the National Academy of Science's Institute of Medicine has now pinned much of the blame on Hillary Rodham Clinton. Well, not in so many words. The panel of doctors and economists issuing a report on vaccines last week was too polite to mention the former First Lady by name. But they identify as a fundamental cause of the problem the fact that the government purchases 55% of the childhood vaccine market at forced discount prices. The result has been "declining financial incentives to develop and produce vaccines." The root of this government role goes back to August 1993, when Congress passed Mrs. Clinton's Vaccines for Children program. A dream of Hillary's friends at the Children's Defense Fund, her vaccines plan was to use federal power to ensure universal immunization. So the government agreed to purchase a third of the national vaccine supply (the Clintons had pushed for 100%) at a forced discount of half price, then distribute it to doctors to deliver to the poor and the un- and under-insured. The result is a cautionary tale for anyone who favors national health care. Already very high in 1993, childhood vaccination rates barely budged. A General Accounting Office report at the time noted that "vaccines are already free" for the truly needy through programs like Medicaid. Meanwhile, however, the Hillary project dealt the vaccine industry another financial body blow. Thirty years ago, the Institute report notes, 25 companies produced vaccines for the U.S. market. Today only five remain, and a number of critical shots have only one producer. Recent years have brought shortages of numerous vaccines, including those for whooping cough, diphtheria and chicken pox. ... Posted by: progressoverpeace at November 05, 2009 12:36 PM (A46hP) 64

When I was going to American University in DC, I temped for a while at the national AARP office on K Street. Two things I learned while there: 1. The Catastrophic Health Care Bill in the late 80's was enough to produce about two bomb scares a week at the place. Was kinda great for me, I kept getting sent home with full pay. 2. Every single person working there was under 40. Rumor had it that the little old lady whose face they stamped on every piece of literature sat in a chair and did her knitting on the top floor all day long. "If you can't pay for good health care, then drop fucking dead." A thought experiment, genius... Now, if it takes a long, long time to become a doctor, with many, many years of hard continuous work, and then when you are finished you are told by the government that you are only allowed to make a certain amount of money, even thought you incurred about 150K in debt, but they will also tell you what to do, when to do it, how often, do you think then that that occupation would be attractive? And if it were less attractive for very smart people to pursue, do you think your health care coverage would suffer or get better? You fucking idiot. Posted by: Rev. Dr. E. That's great - or at least it would have been if it hadn't been pitched 2 days before the House vote. Seems a little too late to me, but maybe that's part of the plan; force the Dems to vote for Pelosicare when a viable (and infinitely less costly) competing plan exists.

Does "costs $61 billion" mean $61 billion in new expenditures, or does it mean that the federal government takes in $61 billion less in tax revenue? It's my experience that in govspeak new expenditures are called "investments" and tax cuts are called "costs". It sounds like this is a good start. It will never see the light of day of course, but as others have said it's something to campaign on next year. Posted by: Ghost of Lee Atwater at November 05, 2009 01:12 PM (sXLx/) 114

They need to enhance Division E of the Republican Answer Add: Section 502 Incentives for Healthcare Institutions to reduce patient infection rates. They could add alot more savings by doing this. Think about it, what incentive does a hospital have to not let you get an infection while in the 4 walls? And then conversely, do they profit if you get infected? I was at a Consumer Driven Healthcare Summit (think HSA) a few years ago, they were claiming that the waste in this Hospital Infection problem dwarfs the waste in Lawsuit/tort reform. If they are right, this is the 800 lb gorrilla. And its about the smallest 'animals' in the room, the bacteria and viruses. The real cost driver of healthcare is the hospitals, in 2007 they had 17% of the national cost. Google that, and see for yourselves. If you can take a chunk of waste away from that group and give it back to the economy ..... Eh. The real price driver is simple economics. Extremely valuable resources treated by almost everyone -- the insured and uninsured alike -- as though they were free. There is no way a feedback loop like that doesn't drive prices ahead of general inflation.

Dear Ace, The Republican plan is genius precisely because it does NOT stand a chance at passing. If it did, I would hate it. If the Dems had half a brain, they would compromise heavily in its direction and call it a "bi-partisan" plan that all Americans can embrace. Then, once the foot is in the door, once the camel's nose is under the tent, it's only a matter of time (several few years; a couple decades at most) before the plan is vastly expanded. - Just like every other bureaucratic social plan ever legislated. And then the Republicans would have no recourse of grievances. As it stands, we know the Dems will all but wholly reject the Republican plan (I pray to God they do), and whatever they do pass, the Republicans will remain divorced from it. Unlike social security, "public option" (read: inevitable Single Payer) Health Care will begin to collapse under it's own weight within a decade of it going into effect. (America's financial engine is a dynamo juggernaut. But it's not a magical bottomless pit of treasure. We are already tapped out and over encumbered with entitlement programs. We already can not pay the piper when he comes calling in about fifteen years. - Our children and theirs will have to do that.) EVERYONE will see Obama Care as a horrible failure, and the Dems and Obama's legacy will get the full blame. Sure it will be ugly and painful; but it will happen relatively quickly rather than slowly. It will be a shock to the American psyche rather than a frog being slowly boiled to death. And the blameworthy for our collective shock will be obvious. And maybe - just maybe - a potent plurality of Americans will realize how heinously destructive big government is to its citizenry; and our great country might be blessed with several generations of political, fiscal, and social sanity manifested in a mandate to severly limit government power. So here's to the outright rejection of the half-way sensible Republican health care plan that would only provide cover for Democrats and that would lead to the slow boil of American sensibilities regarding massive entitlement programs. Hey, wow, a reform bill that actually has the reform intended, without pork, spendulus inflation, hype, or government control-grabbing. The last thing I named is probably why it won't pass. Teh Obamessiah and his disciples have no intention of actually reforming health care costs. It's all about getting public control of the health care system, so they can rule it with the same success the Canadians and Brits have enjoyed.

I was reading a gaming blog today written by a Canadian. He mentioned he was coughing up blood but refuses to go to the doctor because with free healthcare by the gov't: "you get what you pay for".
Good for the Republicans for showing they can come up with something that would actually HELP the country rather than hurt it. (Almost sounds like a foreign concept nowadays.) Posted by: Adlib at November 05, 2009 01:37 PM (k/CNO) 127
Call Yarmuth's office in DC (202-225-5401) and ask to speak to him one-on-one. Don't take the answer that he's not your Congressman. Remind them that he talked to people one-on-one on this issue and that you want the opportunity also.

It is time to consider the possibility that Pelosi and Reid are looking for a legacy cap to their careers. They both are well aware that they may only have a year left as leaders.
It is not unthinkable, likely even, that the House would vote to change leadership after a significant loss in seats, even should the Dem's retain control. A loss of seats is much more likely than not. Reid is more likely to lose his next election than to win it. Moreover, the last half of their possibly final year will be lost to election stuff. Viewed from this perspective it might be possible to understand this desperate push and apparent suicidal act. As they say on Wall Street: "That has already been factored in."
