| Obama's Much-Vaunted "First-Class Temperament" Also Comes With an Expiration DateThat observation from Jennifer Rubin, noting Obama's Nixonian attempt to ban a Fox reporter from a pool to interview the "pay czar." It’s a cringe-inducing moment, both for those who oppose the White House on policy grounds and those who cheer its every move. As surely as Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton allowed their personal flaws to erode the office of the presidency, Obama seems bent on allowing his own flaws (thin-skinnedness, hubris) to do potentially grave damage to the office as well. And over what? Not some grand policy matter or some key personnel matter, but over the desire to exclude a news network that has criticized him. For those who suggested that Obama’s main selling point was his “superior temperament,” we anxiously await an admission of grave error. It seems they were terribly mistaken.Allah's worried. Regarding Obama obsessing over FoxNews at his sit-down with hyperbolically liberal commentators... Dude, Glenn Beck’s own fans don’t obsess about him this much. How do we put The One’s mind at ease here? Taxpayer-funded psychotherapy? A week off at Camp David? A security blanket, perhaps emblazoned with the “O” logo that he loves so much? I’m not being altruistic; we’ve reached the point where, purely out of self-interest, we may need to start worrying about this guy being on the red line with Medvedev, chatting about nukes, and letting his mind wander to what Sean Hannity said about him that night. What can we do to help this poor afflicted individual get the help he needs?I honestly think that this might have been the first time in his life where he's been subject to professional scrutiny and criticism. It's rather easy to have a "first-class temperament" when everyone's always kissing your ass. But that's hardly the proof of such a temperament. Proof of an even, cool demeanor comes when you're under stress and subject to criticism. This can only get worse, of course. CommentsPosted by: 18-1 at October 23, 2009 01:53 PM (7BU4a) 2

It would be interesting to know how Obama responded when he lost in a primary 2-1 to incumbent Congressman (and former Black Panther) Bobby Rush in Chicago.
I bet that Rush's people had some pretty pungent comments to make about a half-white Harvard carpetbagger in Rush's black district. I also bet Obama didn't take it very well... Posted by: Realist at October 23, 2009 01:55 PM (QJzQi) 7

The sad truth is that this has always been visible, just shielded by a complicit press, a large-minded public who wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, and the fact that the campaign broke his way in a historic fashion. Viewed in hindsight, incidents like flipping off Hillary, "lipstick on a pig", peevishness after being gently mocked in the primary debates, the self-aggrandizement in the campaign speeches (Office of the President Elect, anyone?) and the petty, small-minded inauguration speech are all of a piece. Anyone paying attention before Obama became President is not surprised.
Bottom line, this is a core personality trait. It is who he is, and it is unlikely to change. Posted by: Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate at October 23, 2009 01:57 PM (Hj9yW) 11

I honestly think that this might have been the first time in his life where he's been subject to professional scrutiny and criticism. Posted by Ace at 01:51 PM I know what you mean, but I don't think so. The Precedent ran into the rough nature of the reality of his sub-par intellect every time he had to be subjected to some objective measure. He saw his SAT scores (which I put an upper bound of 940 on) and his LSAT scores. He knows what a total moron he is. Anyone who has paid attention to The Precedent has long known that he was a bobble-headed fool who couldn't think his way out of a paper bag. But ... we have a guy who utters the sheer and incomprehensible idiocy of "profit and earnings ratios" and then has the chutzpah to try and lecture us on our financial and economic systems. I guarantee you that The Precedent has problems with fractions (as evidenced, in part, by his lack of understanding that "and" is never used to translate a ratio into English) and cannot do anything approaching high school algebra, let alone calculus. Yet, we still have people listening to his opinions on global warming. We deserve whatever is coming to us, because no one had any excuse not to see all of this way back in the campaign. And some still refuse to acknowledge the low IQ of The Precedent, even after all he has shown us. Posted by: progressoverpeace at October 23, 2009 02:16 PM (A46hP) 85

You know what I think this is? Obama realizes that his power comes from how people perceive him and not any qualities or skill set he has. He has to attack Fox because if people perceive him as the naked emperor his control over the media will hemorrhage.
Let me be clear. If he is not what they thought he was, then what is he? Then the Beck assault is all the more efficient in painting him as a collectivist. There is no other narrative than the super Barack. If it is not true, the fall back is what the critics have been pounding on forever. This will be a steep fall. progressoverpeace, yeah, from what I've read about his parents, I see a profound lack of interest in objective reality. From what I've seen of humanity, this derives from lack of ability to handle the "hard subjects" like the sciences. In short, both of them were bad at math. Intelligence being hereditary, he's a certain lefthander on the Bell Curve for g. Also I doubt very much that Obama's math SAT cracked 500. Not that there is anything wrong with that; but then, we're not talking about a candidate for the assistant manager at the corner Barnes & Noble, here. His verbal skills were assuredly higher so his overall IQ may still be 120+ (and his combined SAT >1000), but these days I have to wonder. Steve Sailer thought that Obama was a genius. This was based on a presumption that Obama actually wrote Dreams From My Father. Why is he keeping his transcripts sooper sekrit, one asks; well, Sailer says, because he didn't want people to see how smart he was. Hey, whataminute. You've hit it right there. This explains everything. Obama is not capable of running the most powerful government on the planet; so, what to do? Make it less powerful to lower the bar to something he can handle. progressoverpeace, Sailer is highly regarded and an inspiration for the human-biodiversity faction in the blogosphere. Google "sailersphere" sometime. I found the link for you. I'd googled Sailer and "he aced them". "He aced them" is arguably Sailer's "heckuva job Brownie" moment, or "B+" moment. Which is not to discredit the Sailersphere as a whole; this misstep of Sailer's happened because he forgot, for an instant, the implications of heredity. Barack Senior was a moron (his economics, I kid you not, was "100% taxation"). Ann Dunham was a moron too (her thesis, I kid you not, was entitled "blacksmithing in Indonesia: Surviving and thriving against all odds"). 178 -- I feel the same way. Bill Clinton annoyed me (a lot), but I never hated him. He was a bubba with a big appetite for all the fun stuff. Unless there was a chubby woman around, essentially harmless to the country. I disagree with every single policy Obama wants, and I think he's an empty-suited turd. That said, all this running down of opponents has already taken a toll. A 21-year old friend of mine was complaining about the health-care bill. She's putting herself through a grueling and expensive two-year training program to become a radiology tech and was furious when she learned that O might be able to set her salary. When she said she disagreed with that online, the first person to respond called her a racist. She was shocked and furious that her disagreement was reduced to name-calling. She was startled that I wasn't even remotely surprised. Since then she's grown to loathe him and his followers. The more she hears about her plans the angrier she is, and the more people scream "Racist!" at every argument, the more she wants him out of office. I'm hoping all this enemies list stuff backfires on him. Posted by: Biblio Phile at October 23, 2009 03:03 PM (y5VNb) 199

Do I sense a true and rightful emperor of the universe comment in the offing.
(Very well. Your love pleases your Emperor, who is both kind and generous.) Your Supreme Emperor and Abyssal Lord of Pain and Darkness issues the following decree: The Pretender now sitting in the White House issues a stench that offends the Royal Nose. He pretends to an authority and gravitas that is unearned, and surrounds himself with empty-headed poseurs and nabobs. We are the only true Lord, Master, and Judge of all the earth and dominions beyond. We earned this distinction through a campaign of ruthless slaughter, oppression, murder, and iniquity. We built Our reputation on mountains of skulls undercut by rivers of blood; Our music is the tortured screams of the damned. Obama's rhetoric is as empty and insubstantial as the fog, whereas Ours carries a freight of terror and dread. Our words mean Life...or Death, and Death comes without even the hope of salvation or absolution. We are keeping a record of those misguided souls who pay fealty to the Pretender. We bide our time and wait. On that dread day when the Dogs of War shall be loosed, our role will be as Teacher as well as Soldier and Overlord, and our lesson shall be taught with fire and sword. Try and discuss the Rush Limbaugh/NFL thing with your average liberal. Count the seconds until they say "racist" or "drug addict" or "hate monger". You could set an Omega watch to it. They either physically attack conservatives on college campuses or shout them down, they vandalize GOP campaign buildings and military recruitment stations, and they make laughably bad entertainment shows that obnoxiously parrot treacly liberal talking points. Obviously these "moderate" Democrats are counter-revolutionaries and racists too. A White House effort to undermine conservative critics is generating a backlash on Capitol Hill — and not just from Republicans. “It’s a mistake,” said Rep. Jason Altmire, a moderate Democrat from western Pennsylvania. “I think it’s beneath the White House to get into a tit for tat with news organizations.” Altmire was talking about the Obama administration’s efforts to undercut fox News. But he said his remarks applied just the same to White House efforts to marginalize the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a powerful business lobby targeted for its opposition to climate change legislation. “There’s no reason to gratuitously piss off all those companies,” added another Democrat, Rep. Jim Moran of Virginia. “The Chamber isn’t an opponent.” Posted by: TheQuietman at October 23, 2009 03:24 PM (1Jaio) 229

Thus starts the fall of "The One". He ran on a campaign consisting on nothing more than vapid slogans, a blank screen individual voters could project their own view on and the fact he was not Bush. Poll after poll shows that, on the issues, the American people do not agree with The One. He has his personality, his African-American/Progressive voting block and nothing more. Once the personality fades, once people start to think "yea, he can read a speech real well, but I don't like what he says anymore" then it all starts to crumble down. He is then left with 2 items of political capital 1) he is a black liberal and 2) the media. Yet, his stupid war with Fox is starting to undermine his second asset. A few in the media are starting to wake up and realize "Hey, if he can off Fox, he can off me." We must keep our own eyes on the ball. The ball right now is the unprecedented power grab in the name of
health care. That is Obama's whole immediate domestic ball of
wax. Because Obama is losing on the issue, losing quite badly, in
the court of public opinion, he is trying to change the subject
and distract our attention so we, the broad American public, will
ease our pressure against Democrats skittish of doing a lemming
act on health care. If we ease our pressure on them on health
care in order to fight Obama on other fronts, those skittish
Democrats might succumb to the White House pressure instead and
use parliamentary tricks to pass the legislative monstrosity
Obama seeks.
That's what the attack on Fox News is all about: It's a distraction. That's what the attack on Rush Limbaugh was and is: a distraction. Attack on the TEA partiers: distraction. Attack on insurance companies, and so on and on: distraction. distraction, distraction, distraction. "The basic tactic in warfare," wrote Obama's organizational idol, Saul Alinsky, "is a mass political jujitsu." And "the real action is in the enemy's reaction." And "the major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition," so "pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." In response, we can't afford to let the attacks go unanswered, but we also can't afford to let them dominate our attention. We can't let the Left pick and freeze the target. We need to swat them down, and keep moving against the main Obama power grab. Posted by: wrg at October 23, 2009 04:01 PM (7t+Ws) 256

Smarter than you Sorry, you asshole. I have put up with plenty of leftist assholes claiming they are smart, but actually stoopid as hell because they do NOT have common sense. Even the Nazi's were Socialist. How many people have they killed? Trotsky and Stalin? Mao? North Korea after the war and North Vietnam after we left through leftist crying. Remember the 'boat people'. From both Vietnam AND Cuba. And how many people did Muslims massacre in Iraq? The mass slaughter of the Kurds.
I am all for geting out of the "stan. Bring are soldiers back. If liberal cities, like NYC, Boston, DC, LA, San Fran, etc, get nuked, so be it. I dont give s shit anymore. 269 -- The Democrat party has always been a viper's nest of the power mad, statist, anti-America kind. It is too bad that many good people have been taken in by that sort that have been hiding in the party ranks for so long. I pity the liberal philosophical, the true one; a worthwhile philosophy (true conservatism's necessary counterbalance, as envisioned by our founders) plundered, taken over, and debauched (largely by the above); I feel badly that some otherwise decent people have thus supported great evil due to believing, falsely, that they were following that credo, when in truth they were supporting anything but the sort. Of course, if they had not been so wedded to belonging to an "ism", and had used their logical-critical faculties to even a small extent, then they would not have fallen for it so easily and so well. Steve Sailer thought that Obama was a genius. This was based on a presumption that Obama actually wrote Dreams From My Father.
Sailer is weirdly unfamiliar with what smart writers' writing is like. Political and cultural critic types read too many books by idiots. Dreams is precisely as not-smart as Obama appears to be. And he did write it, with very little help. Even its errors are the same bluffer's gaffes Obama still makes. No one who's willing to ghost a book is capable of observing that kind of detail and rendering it just right. Read it. It's all him. Even the bullshit. All we see now, he showed then. It's no big whoop OM; I'm confident they'll eventually see the light. In fact I'm pretty sure my youngest daughter already does and the older one is studying to be a physical therapist so once she's completely immersed in the work world I trust she'll come to her senses. In fact her husband is from New Delhi and is probably harsher on the rock worshipers of Pahkeestahn than I am, which I thought was almost impossible. The biggest obstacle for my kids is having to admit I was right; they'll explore every alternative before owning up to that.

Oh, and that Puggy-stonn nonsense is irritating as all getout. Our language has an accepted pronunciation for that country's name, and that's not it. Has anyone heard Obama refer to Burma as "Myanmar"? (Seriously asking. I haven't, yet.) Because until the U.S. government recognizes the Union of Myanmar, it's rightly called "Burma" by everyone in the government's employ. Everyone else can use the National Geographic Society's guide to place names, but the government ought to use the list it already has, the one with a presumable reason behind every entry. Posted by: FireHorse at October 23, 2009 07:15 PM (Vl5GH) 285
I understand those commenters above who see Obie as nearing a meltdown due to NPD or stress or whatever, and imagine the MSM is s-l-o-w-l-y beginning to wake up. Unfortunately, I think you're whistling past the graveyard: Obie may well be thin-skinned, but he's got a very experienced, sharp team of advisors around him to keep him from stepping in it too badly.
Moreover, while we've seen literally two MSM types break ranks, this doesn't represent a true look at *most* of the MSM--most of whose members are still solidly Dem, liberal, leftist and supportive of Da Won. After Marcus, I'll be surprised if the editors let any more critical pieces get published. As for the biggest deal pending--gov't takeover of health care--most of the commenters seem to think that because only a minority of Americans seem to support that ghastly abomination of a bill, congresscritters will vote accordingly. That is *totally* wishful thinking, for two reasons: First, let's say 50 Dems have read their constituents correctly and are planning to vote no. Fine, but with something like $200 Billion of the Spendulus funds still unspent, Obastard's crew can offer these wavering congresscritters a *Billion dollars each* in pork for their districts, and not even draw any attention. If the member still holds out, due to fear of losing the next election, what could the Crew offer a member to make it work his or her while to vote yes, against the majority of their constituents? Well, where I live the rule of thumb is that ten percent of every state contract gets kicked back to the chair of the committee that approved it. On a Billion dollar project (or group of projects) that would be...um...a cool $100 *million* bucks. Worth losing an election for? What do you think? And for the record, a few GOP congresscritters would do the same thing if they could get away with it, but with the MSM monitoring every check, every contribution, every transaction, I think most feel they can't get away with it. Dems, on the other hand, can count on getting a pass from the MSM, so... Bottom line: I hope the commenters above are right about Obie, but I think y'all are grasping at straws. Not that I blame ya. You know that Glen Beck has to be really getting under Dear Leader's skin. Add to that a woman caller to Rush Limbaugh claimed that she called the LA office of the FBI wanting to know where to get information about the ACORN vote-fraud cases and (here's the punch-line) whoever was on the other end of the phone told her to listen to Fox News, Limbaugh and Beck! Plus, Obama got slapped in the face with Dick Cheney's mighty warcock when Cheney said Obama was "dithering." I think some mighty fine temper-trantrums are coming. Time for more popcorn! mmm mmm mmm Posted by: Retired Buckeye Cop at October 23, 2009 08:11 PM (bCQG3) 287
Oh, and that Puggy-stonn nonsense is irritating as all getout. Our language has an accepted pronunciation for that country's name, and that's not it.
That should've been an early indicator of how in the tank for Odouchetool the MSM was when nobody called him out on exactly that. Yeah I know that he visited there (assuming anything about his past as constructed is true) with his deadbeat college roomies and maybe that is the way it's pronounced there (although I doubt that). BFD, I've been to France plenty of times and don't come back here and talk about "La France"; I prononunce it France just like everybody else here does and would be considered a prententious asswipe if I did otherwise. And if GWB had tried something like that he'd have been shot down and mocked by the whole MSM crew; but obviously he would never do anything like that. But Stumblebum Ojizzmop does it and everybody's afraid to say GTFO with that bullshit; no, this was some sign of some international flavor that sends tingles up legs all the way to Tweety's vagina. But surely every regular person listening to him say that was thinking WTF but did anybody say "Hey fuckface, stop being such a knob and speak normally"? I'm more optimistic than sf that there are some cracks in Bammy's vineer that will steadily get larger. Unless this economy picks up significantly (and I don't see how it can with Odummy's lack of experience in anything other than being an empty suit) this punk's toast. 40 "First-class temperament"?!
Are there honestly people who believe this? He gave an on-the-sly middle finger, on camera, to an opponent during a debate. His temperament has been quite clear all along, and it is NOT what I would call first class. Posted by: qrstuv at October 23, 2009 02:04 PM (SSVGw) Hear, hear! I am SO glad I'm not the only person that's bugged by that. Also: remember the debate where the tacky moderator asked Hillary what it was like being perceived as "unlikable"---and King Obama said, oh so condescendingly--sneeringly!--"Oh, you're nice enough, Hillary." If I'd been Hillary I would have walked right over and punched his lights out! He also gave the finger not so subtly to John McCain, right when he was SAYING "Now I have a lot of respect for John McCain, blah blah blah"--and lest anyone say that maybe his wiping the corner of his mouth with his middle finger and only his middle finger was unintentional, you can watch the video and see and hear his audience tittering. They caught what he was doing, all right! AND....never to be forgotten: "lipstick on a pig" and "old smelly fish." The man's got less class than anyone since Caligula.
