Fishism alert. The White House is reversing a nine-year-old policy forbidding the use of tracking cookies on those who visit federal websites.

Even the ACLU is alarmed.

Since 2000, it has been the policy of the federal government not to use such technology. But the OMB is now seeking to change that policy and is considering the use of cookies for tracking web visitors across multiple sessions and storing their unique preferences and surfing habits. Though this is a major shift in policy, the announcement of this program consists of only a single page from the federal register that contains almost no detail.

This is a sea change in government privacy policy, said Michael Macleod-Ball, Acting Director of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office. Without explaining this reversal of policy, the OMB is seeking to allow the mass collection of personal information of every user of a federal government website. Until the OMB answers the multitude of questions surrounding this policy shift, we will continue to raise our strenuous objections.

The use of cookies allows a website to differentiate between users and build a database of each users viewing habits and the information they share with the site. Since web surfers frequently share information like their name or email address (if theyve signed up for a service) or search request terms, the use of cookies frequently allows a users identity and web surfing habits to be linked. In addition, websites can allow third parties, such as advertisers, to also place cookies on a users computer.

Americans rely on the information from the federal government to research politics, medical issues and legal requirements. The OMB is now asking to retain the personal and identifiable information we leave behind, said Christopher Calabrese, Counsel for the ACLU Technology and Liberty Project. No American should have to sacrifice privacy or risk surveillance in order to access free government information. No policy change should be adopted without wide ranging debate including information on the restrictions and uses of cookies as well as impact on privacy.

Obama said he believes the only people involved in your medical decisions should be you and your doctor.

But the funny part is under ObamaCare, all doctors will eventually be government employees. Doctors will be under closer scrutiny than they are presently with the 'greedy' insurance companies!

Also, the government will have access to all our medical records and they sure as shit will be reviewed when it comes time for a major health care crisis.

68 Been to one end of teh intertubes and back, and boy am I tired.  Found this somewhere,  I don't remember where.  As I understand the current situation in the U.S.  there are 3 major types of medical payment systems.  Medicaid,  Medicare, and private insurance.  The first two are on a fast track to bankrupt, and the third one is doing ok.  So, the Master Plan is to slow bleed/gut the successful one to pay for the first two?  All the while displacing millions of workers in the process.  Now where are those unemployed workers going to get jobs?  According to ObamaCare,  if you are White,  don't even bother to apply as all future preferences as to training /jobs/contracts are first to be given to Non White people (read pages 879 thru 909).  Not to mention the astronomic government debts incurred while doing so.  Since our government is technically broker than a broke dick dog, our government hopes to sell securities to countries that are not truly allies.  Adding even more debt (interest) to the equation.  This debt will be so huge our children and their children will spend their entire life paying it off through ever higher rates of taxes on the people in the private sector who are still lucky to have a job.   Even after all that, something like 15 million (or is it 15%) of U.S. citizens still will not have insurance?  Sounds like Change all right.  And not for the better.  You would have to be stuck on stupid to agree with any of this nonsense.

Also, you can restrict what sort of information is stored on the SERVER side while still using cookies on the client side.

I'm quite convinced there is at least one Obama 5th columnists working against her from within in a high position of trust.  Now would be the time to excise that cancer before one of them prods her into doing something really fatal.

If I were her, I'd engage in a "classic mole hunt" strategy ASAP - i.e. provide uniquely differentiated mildly damaging/embarrasing information to individuals on her staff and watch the flow of that differentiated information and where it surfaces.  The mole info can be almost anything that might pique the pinhead media's attantion a bit -- like leaking something silly about how she feels she needs to lose a few pounds and her staff is not under any circumstances to bring her anything sweet to eat, and she's decided to donate to charity any clothing she has with horizontal stripes that might look fattening.

The differentiation can be almost anything, steganographic tags on pics, memos with slightly different phrasing/topics, use of several different "codenames" for the same initiative, whatever.  The key thing is each person to be vetted gets a piece of information unique to them, so if it propagate beyond them, then you know precisely who the leaker is.

We used to use this kind of technique at IBM all the time to find out who (inside or outside of IBM) was leaking information about unreleased codenamed projects.  Its simple and works like a charm every time.

145 The biggest problem running a mole hunt of course, is making sure the mole, if one exists, doesn't find out about it or they'll go dead on you.  Basically, the only people who she'd want to know about it are herself and the trusted person she has running the operation.  It would have to be some position that appeared benign - like appointing her own personal "science/technology" adviser reporting directly to her so her COS could be vetted too.  A personal S/T-A would be in a good position to "spread" certain office "rumors" without necessarily having to funnel through the COS..

All that really needs to be done is roll back that retarded Ethanol initiative.  US Sugar, Duda, and other major domestic sugar producers have switched a LOT of acreage into corn production because that's where the big subsidy money was.

A drive from Wellington to Belle Glade out US441 shows vast fields of corn interspersed among the sugar where it was 100% sugar 5 years ago.  Heading south down route 27 at South Bay you see the same thing.
