America's Most Infamous Gay-Marriage Opponent Under Increasing Pressure to Engage Gay Issues

Snark, again: We're talking about gay marriage opponent President Barack "Hope and Change" Obama. From the Drudge link, citing a coming NYT story:

"Just four weeks after the Iowa ruling, Obama -- who opposes gay marriage but campaigned as a self-described 'fierce advocate' of gay rights -- is under increasing pressure to engage on a variety of gay issues that are coming to the fore amid a dizzying pace of social, political and legislative change,' reports the paper's Sheryl Gay Stolberg.

Marion Barry, by the way, says there could be a "civil war" over gay marriage, in the black community, because it's so unpopular there. I mention this, of course, because Obama's most fervent pillar of support is the black community.

In related news, Andrew Sullivan was spotted gripping his knees and crying hysterically on the floor of his shower, like Glenn Close in The Big Chill.

7 The Nation of Islam has a rather prominent presence in Barry's part of town. I don't imagine they'll take kindly to gay gentrification on their turf.

I think it's reasonable to assume that there are no google earth searches of black ministers homes by gay activists, just "let's engage them in mutual understanding"

I see Bravo commercials saying "fasion is the new black", referring to gays of course. Many blacks are highly offended by the "gay is the new black" slogans.

41 Maine's governor signed their gay marriage bill into law today.  When pressed by Jake Tapper if Barry had a reaction, Dough Boy Gibbs restated the dirty little secret that liberals love to forget.

“No, I think the president’s position on same-sex marriage is — has been talked about and discussed,” Gibbs curtly replied.

“He opposes same-sex marriage?” Tapper asked.

“He supports civil unions,” Gibbs said, not really answering the question.

Follow up

“Does that mean that he’s going to say or do anything against what the citizens of Maine did — did today?” Tapper followed.

“Not that I’m aware of,” Gibbs said. “I think the president believes this is an issue that’s best addressed by the states.”

My miner took care of those thieving Rhesus Macaques in short order when I set him to hunt but the presence of a Kobold thief at my gates (well, the gaps where I plan on installing doors to become gates) has persuaded me it's time to get a bit more serious about defense. I drafted my first crossbowdwarf and have her stationed at the gate until my carpenter finishes training my first wardogs and my craftsdwarf makes some wood bolts.

Then I'll chain a dog or two to the gate, make the rest of the wardogs available for adoption as pets and let my recruit practice in the barracks. Shit, I need to build an archery target..

71 I still don't understand why the gay community is so aggressively inviting the Government into their lives.

What is the compelling government interest in gay "marriage"?

The compelling government interests for straight marriage are maintaining a reasonable replacement ratio of future spear carriers and taxpayers, the establishment of a civic society through the nuclear family, and improving the public health through the management of genetic diversity and age requirements.  None of these apply to homosexual relationships.

For example, do the regulations on marriages between kin apply if two female first cousins want to marry?  If so, why?  Are there other public health concerns the government should be considering? Does the gay community even want to go there?  What if Georgia approves gay marriage with a blood test for STDs?

Another example, is age restrictions on marriage and their relationship to what society views as an acceptable relationship.  Will the nation be comfortable when a liberal judge approves a marriage license for a 15 year old boy to "marry" a 19 year old man, what about a 45 year old man?

Be careful with what you wish for, the government can be a very fickle bedfellow.

A good preview would be Amsterdam. Gays are being beat up in broad daylight on busy streets by muslim "youths". Law enforcement and politicians answer their pleas for protection with precautions to watch their behavior and take care not to act in a "provacative" way when muslims are in the area.

Every single referendum against it has passed.  Hell, it would have passed here in MA if the legislature hadn't used a procedural flim-flam which ended their session without voting on whether to add it to the '08 ballot.

Look, sniff poppers, stick things in your orifices that were never intended to go there, chain yourself up and bark like a dog, I don't freakin' care. Just keep it out of my face and don't expect me to nod and go "uh huh, that's perfectly normal. Because you know what, if it was perfectly normal you probably wouldn't be doing it, you are turned on by the shock value of what you are doing. And, I'm sorry but nothing you can say can make me think it is perfectly normal for a middle aged man to wear a diaper and a onesie and sit in a playpen sucking his thumb."

There weren't a lot left over in Nazi Germany either, even though Hitler himself may have been a closet homosexual. Among the first to get killed when he took over were his former nazi comrades in the SA, aka the Brownshirts. The Brownshirt Nazis of Ernst Roehm (an openly gay man) had a large percentage of gays in their membership.

I voted for Prop 8 for one simple reason. I can't stand their goon tactics, their constant narcissistic "you must love us" attitude, and their fucking us over on other issues because we wouldn't cheer their parades.

Jeez!

I dont know how to say what I want to say, without sounding like "I have some gay friends...."

So, here goes:

I live in the South, in a town that is known down here for it's Memorial Day weekend Gay Celebration. I also work in a hospital. I don't know why, but there seems to be an inordinant amount of gays in healthcare, based on the population. I also dont give a shit what anybody else does, as long as it doesnt effect me. So, I have a lot of gay friends at work, of both sexes.

I have done some informal polling about this subject with my gay friends at work, and they all say they dont care about the terminology, they would just like to enjoy the benefits of marriage. When I ask them about the possible downsides of a civil union, they answer that they are willing to take that risk. They dont really care what it's called. Some have also said they are afraid of the "slippery slope." They tend to be cagey about Perez Hilton and his buddies. Almost like they are afraid to call someone out.

As for our girls here, all of them are hot, even if they are undersexed (Im looking at you PGiS .

(BTW PGiS, it is common for women to lose their interest in sex at certain points in their life, dont worry about it. And tell your husband that it should come back with a vengeance! I should know, I was a Displasia Nurse not too many years ago; but that is a different story.)

163 I heard today that since the soap opera "The Guiding Light" is going to end soon, the network is thinking of bringing back some classic game shows to replace it, including "The Dating Game."

What do you think the odds are that homosexuals will force the producers of the new "Dating Game" to make episodes with homos playing the same like they forced eHarmony to set up homo dates?

Marion Barry, by the way, says there could be a "civil war" over gay marriage, in the black community, because it's so unpopular there. I mention this, of course, because Obama's most fervent pillar of support is the black community.

Marion Barry, and anyone believing this is delusional.

A Democratic President signed welfare reform and blacks went on to support Democrats at the standard 88%+ rate.

Obama could perform a gay marriage cermony on the WH lawn with no effect on black voter support.
