Michael Savage: Democrats Caused Justice Roberts' Seizure; Media Matters Fails To Note Rather Obvious Possibility It's a Parody

However, it seems to be a likely spoof of the new John Bircher Left.

This is my first, and I hope last, link to Media Matters. Notice the don't even acknowledge this possibility, though there's a great deal of support for it.

SAVAGE: All right, we have a breaking news update. Chief Justice John Roberts has had a seizure in his summer home in Maine, and he fell on a dock. Now, what's interesting to me, and almost frightening and puzzling, is that on Friday Charles Schumer gave a loud and vociferously nasty speech during which he said he would never support another Bush judge. He would never support a -- it was -- you know, let me ask you something. All you leftists believe in the conspiracy of Bush and Cheney, the conspiracy of 9-11. Am I to believe that there's no connection between Charles Schumer on Friday saying that he would never appoint, or never, excuse me, approve another Bush appointment to the court, to any court? And then the chief justice suffers a so-called seizure two days later? You're telling me there's no possibility of a conspiracy by the Democrats to have caused this seizure in some manner? Tell me that it's not possible. Tell me that the stakes are not so high that the liberals -- who've finally lost the court after 50 years -- that they would stop short of anything like this. Tell me it's not possible, and I'll tell you you're a liar.

Later on he once again says that it's specifically leftists and leftwingers who should ponder this scenario in their beds tonight, suggesting, again, that this is a parody intended to prove a point to leftists and leftwingers. Obviously, if the Demcorats really were poisoning Roberts with seizure-inducing drugs, it would be a matter of general concern, and not merely something for leftists and leftwingers to think about.

I really don't like Michael Savage, and I actually began linking this as a slam on him. But as I listened to the tape I realized he was most likely goofing on the Truther Left. Something that Media Matters cannot even acknowledge as a possibility.

Michael Savage is a fucking WackJob!

Levin pisses me off, but I listen to him sometimes, Coulter pisses me off, but I read her.

Michael Savage is a fucking WackJob and needs to start banging cindy sheehan.

3 I'd bang Cindy Sheehan.  I mean, you know, if she was a guy.

4 Many people think Savage is a fake, a liberal who turned conservative to make bank on the radio.

Posted by: bmac at August 01, 2007 01:08 PM (GPVwP)

5 Savage is a liberal 5th columnist.  He was donating money to Jerry "moonbeam" Brown not too long ago.

As the cops say, ignore what they're saying and watch their hands.

Actually, I would say he's a foreign policy conservative, but he's a moonbeam medicine man, didn't he get famous for writing about herbal medicine or something?  He's a smart guy, but smart guys can be fucking insane.

Oh, anyways, he's foreign policy righty, but a domestic liberal/UBER libertarian from when I gave his MSNBC show a try.

Posted by: Wickedpinto at August 01, 2007 01:12 PM (QTv8u)

7 It's an obvious parody.  Savage calls Schumer "Bigfoot" in Media Matter's own clip.  Idiots!

That theory makes precisely as much sense as the Dick Cheney ordered a hit on Pat Tillman theory or pretty much any of the other retarded nonsense that lefties seem to believe in these days.  Actually if you think about it the lefties poisoning Roberts theory makes more sense than a lot of the lefties magical beliefs since that theory hasn't yet been specifically and painstakingly debunked by numerous parties both inside and outside the government.

9 He also moronically claimed that Newt G. suggesting that the dems would end up with a Clinton/Obama ticket was somehow Newt stealing his prediction without crediting him.  I'm gonna go out on a limb here and stake my claim that Newt's prediction was made without him ever having listened to Mr. Weiner.

10 I can't stand Savage.  Even when I agree with the substance of what he's saying, I still wish he'd just shut up.

18 Look at the byline on the MM story:

Michael J. Maio is an intern at Media Matters for America.

The Schwartz is strong with this one, he'll fit right in when he grows up.

Who's he fucking blowing at Media Matters?

There, I corrected it.

Well,

TusharD  We don't know if he's fucking or blowing OR playing catcher to someone at Media Matters, but I'm sure his naivette' (really I need a spell check on that one, I don't speak surrender) will be completely ignored once we know that there IS a Michal J. Maio or some variation there of, who is sucking, fucking or taking from an MM staffer.

Man, I'm so glad you fed that one, I was hoping for a beauchamp mockery based on my "the planet grelbath" comment, but it was apparently too off kilter to warrant a "really wicked?  Grelbath?"  from anyone, cuz I totaly had a cool as beauchamp mockery laid out in my bean if someone took that rather insignificant bait.

22 You take a little here and a little there... Savage is no doubt smart and a street smart distiller of what is going on.  There is no doubt and he admits he was a flaming liberal until the early 80's.  Some believe he's just talking the talk about being conservative.  I truly believe he is.  What I like about him is that he shells it out to both the dems and republicans.  Honestly how can you ever defend most of the party people now?  Sure he can really loose it on the air... he treats his callers like shit.  But the guy is smart.  His downside he is not good at law, his ego can be intolerable and his memory is a little shot on trying to remember events from the last 15 to 20 years.  But his knowledge of the literary classics, the skeptical process of logic/science/medicine and his debating skills (when he hasn't lost his mind) are first rate. The bottom line is that he starts from being a skeptic.  The rest tend to be in the bucket carrier class.

I only listen to Levin when a matter of law or constitutional law is being discussed.  He is first rate there.  Hannity is a bucket carrier despite the thousands of times you hear him say he is a Reagan conservative.  Medved I occasionally listen to... but he really pissed me off during the amnesty votes, he was so pro amnesty.  Prager comes across reasoned.  And so is Jerry Doyle - an independent conservative not beholden to anybody. But occasionally I like to get pissed off and Savage delivers.  I can only take about 30 minutes, like a shot of espresso.

23 I don't listen to him much anymore but if he gets started on a rant about the hallowed Academy, it's pretty totally awesome...

He has said he got fucked over for employment as a prof in the name of diversity.

Only a douchebag would believe he wasn't setting up a parody.

A lot of the talk radio guys like to insinuate that there's one really high profile conservative host who's really a phony, a liberal who's just playing a conservative because that's the way the wind blows on talk radio.  Curiously, no one will come right out and say who they think it is.

My gut says it's true, and that it's Savage.  He's just too much, and it seems to me that he lets his cover slip from time to time, especially when he's mad at Republicans.   Levin hints that it's Savage, too, I think.

If it's not Savage, then it's probably O'Reilly, but I don't think so because O'Reilly invests too much time into denying he's a conservative outright.  You can't really fake being a conservative at the same time you're denying it, can you?  Plus, O'Reilly really isn't all that conservative.  Not really.

On a side note, I love all the lefty boobs who insist that Limbaugh's a phony.  His success and effectiveness, even in the wake of a drug scandal, just scares them to their core.  God bless him for it.

Them's fighting words, boy.  What's your beef with Medved?  I think he's one of the more articulate and effective hosts.

37 If TNR ever gets itself a house band, I just thought of a really great name for it: Dick Cheney's Stroke Machine and the Prisonfleshes.

Posted by: Watcher at August 01, 2007 04:40 PM (S1dRd)

38 Hannity just repeats, every 15 minutes, the same old republican talking points. Day in day out. One show is the same as the next. The "Great American" dittohead thing is very annoying.

Levin is only good when he dissects judicial buffoonery.

Savage is borderline nuts. Once in a while, intermixed between incoherent rants, he is brilliant and concise but its just not worth waiting for the money shot. I think he really is a weird tortured bitter angry man who rails against the world. Manic but not the mole.

O'Reilly is the mole. Talk about a humorless man.

39 What's your beef with Medved?  I think he's one of the more articulate and effective hosts.

Really.  Hmmm... The times I've listened to him (and I admit it hasn't been many), he just sounded like a water-carrier for the Republican Party, kind of like a low-rent Hugh Hewitt.

Posted by: OregonMuse at August 01, 2007 05:07 PM (WqDqW)

40 O'Reilly is the mole. Talk about a humorless man.

I don't know, I think Kensington is right that O'Reilly spends too much time denying he is a conservative to be a conservative mole.  A pompous buffoon, yes, but a mole?  Doubtful.

Posted by: OregonMuse at August 01, 2007 05:10 PM (WqDqW)

41 On a side note, I love all the lefty boobs who insist that Limbaugh's a phony.

My jaw dropped to the floor when I read an article claiming that Rush had no interest in politics whatsoever and it was just something he adopted to make money.  I think the guy really believed what he was writing, too. There really isn't any way to dislodge such entrenched idiocy.

Posted by: OregonMuse at August 01, 2007 05:15 PM (WqDqW)

42 Savage is a great story teller. He goes off on tangents and then brings it back to the original point. He's dishonest at times and rings his own bell way too often.

The guy is a Jewish baby boomer from the Bronx and has a PhD from Berkely, so if he is an actual convert, a conservative, he's certainly living with some guilt over it.

Larry Elder is on during the same time slot and when I can get his channel, I listen to Larry. He's articulate too.

Posted by: PC14 at August 01, 2007 05:15 PM (MAA1P)

43 Levin is only good when he dissects judicial buffoonery.

Levin is actually painful to listen to. He has a really annoying, whiny voice and when he is angry or enthused about something, it gets kicked up a notch into the shrill zone and he sounds like a male version of Hillary.

He really should not be on the radio.

Posted by: OregonMuse at August 01, 2007 05:18 PM (WqDqW)

44 It seems to me that for a liberal talk show host to masquerade as a conservative day after day, week after week, is pretty much an impossible task.  He either would have to familiarize himself with the conservative worldview so thoroughly (so as not to be caught off guard by a sharp question) that he would either eventually come to believe it for real, or every so often the mask would slip, or come off entirely, and the listeners would pick up on it. Sooner or later his liberal instincts would kick in, and he'd blow his cover.

I just don't see how it could be done.  Not spontaneously, not day after day, and not on live radio.

Posted by: OregonMuse at August 01, 2007 05:48 PM (WqDqW)

45

Levin and Hannity both drive me nuts. Partly because I despise all things East Coast. Hannity is the talk radio equivalent of Stuart Scott, in the same way Scott is a jock sniffer, Hannity is with the military.

Someone please explain to me who the eff Mark Levin is and why he has a talk show and gets to post on the Corner? He is a total hack, obnoxious, not insightful and most improtantly form a radio stand point not entertaining!

Posted by: Oclarki at August 01, 2007 06:39 PM (ueol2)

46 A lot of people hate Savage for the fact he won't carry 'George Bush's water'.  They can't believe someone would cling to being a Conservative and simultaneously disparage Bush on a frequent basis.

So they must be simply nuts and not conducting a show that is part punditry and part "I'm as mad as hell" performance.

Posted by: jpm100 at August 01, 2007 11:22 PM (RlKPZ)

47 Savage can paint a great visual image but the out of control rants ruin everything else he does. He really needs to exercise some self control.

Best Savage quote: We need more Patton and less patent leather.
